From another POV. I have had employees do the same this in the past. Didn't cause us too much trouble but I can assure you the company wont rehire them. We also didn't pay them for any hours they choose not to work. Both times it bit them in the butt later on when the needed a job and couldn't come back.

Moral of the story, do what you feel is necessary but remember burning bridges may not be worth it. I have always given my 2 weeks when leaving a job. Its only 2 weeks of your life no big deal and they have to pay you. Better yet maybe they will do something stupid to you during that time and you can get even more money.

I've always debated whether to do it or not. But I always end up calling them.

I turned in my resignation and quit with no notice at my last job.
I had been with the company for 7.5 years, and I found out through an email between my immediate boss and the CEO that they had been searching for and had found a replacement for me that could start in a couple of weeks - AND the newbie was going to be paid more than me. They had left this email purposefully for me to find and read.
I was floored and really didn't know how I should react. I would have understood if I just sucked at my job, but they had just given me a raise a few months prior and my evaluation said I was a doing an excellent job. Come to find out, they had been planning to get rid of me for months - even before I had gotten the raise.
Anyways, I don't advocate for quitting without notice - it makes it harder to find a new job. But in this instance, it was a matter of pride, and I was NOT going to train my replacement (I've had to do that before and it is mortifying). I wanted to inconvenience my employers because I felt that was the only way to show how upset I was - I mean how spineless do you have to be not to just talk to your employee bluntly and tell them they are no longer needed?
It still bothers me a year later how they didn't even ask why I was quitting (since they already knew) and that I was just an expendable pawn and my loyalty to the company meant absolutely nothing.

Honestly, I wish I could have screwed them over somehow, but as it was, I didn't get to do anything except leave with my tail between my legs.

Naw, if they show you the door and try and get you to quit, you only have a couple of things to do. I had an issue with one company and it seems they forgot that I was on the OG crew that put the place together and had a bunch of shit stored in my head that went with me when I left.

Some of the things that we had to do to get that place up and running was "wrong" on paper and we never changed the paperwork to update. I guess they lost a whole bank of dollar slot machines for a friggin' month because in order for them to work, the player tracking systems had to be wired in "backwards". Needless to say, anyone wanna guess what losing a bank of dollar machines for a month at a casino costs?

Well the whole point of the two week notice is to give them time to find someone new to replace you......so might not be a good idea to just up and leave.

Yes. My first job.

I pretty much got chewed out by my crappy and stingy and unethical boss for not telling her something that I DID tell her. She accused me of skipping work when I told her I wasn't able to come in and she okayed it a week in advance.

The restaurant was at least half full of customers and she was yelling at me like a crazy b*tch that she is for well over a minute. It got everyone's attention but she didn't care. No wonder her place got shut down half a year after I left. She didn't care about her workers or customers, used expired ingredients, and had a hazardous and dirty work environment.

I didn't raise my voice against her. I just nodded and stopped trying to get in a word edgewise when it became clear I wouldn't even be allowed to say anything as a rebuttal. I was scheduled to work the next day but I never showed and never went back, and told all my friends about her practices and that they should not eat at her crap restaurant. Hope she had to scramble her fat butt to find a replacement.

Before I transferred departments I started leaving work earlier and earlier.Normally I used to work 6am to 8pm. And luckily 2 of 3 of my last days were on the weekend and my manager had no clue.
Day 1- Left at 5pm
Day 2-Left at 2:30pm
Last Day-Left at 11am(manager called me to find out where I was at, ignored her call!!!)

Felt good fam,now I have a job that gives me 3 to 4 hours of free time that I get to play my PS Vita on the clock!!!

It doesn't matter as long as you have some place to go.

I did something like that.

Got the report date for bootcamp on a Friday, was on a bus the following Monday morning. Never did go back to pick up my final paycheck.

Nope, even if i hated them it would hurt me more than it would hurt them in the end anyways. plus that's just rude to do to the person who employed you.

It's something I often fantasize, but I would never do it. I have too much respect for that. If I was quitting because my boss was a dick though-
