Hi Crunchy!

With the recent premier of Comet Lucifer http://www.crunchyroll.com/comet-lucifer here on Crunchyroll, I thought it would be fun to create a thread for Mega Man Legends, a video game series that shares many elements with Comet Lucifer.

Mega Man Legends is the story of a world covered by endless ocean. Humanity has been pushed to the brink, and survives by exploring and utilizing the relics and ruins of advanced, long-vanished civilizations. The main protagonist is one such daring explorer, who along with his childhood friend / love interest is in search of a mysterious crystal that is the relic of one of those long-lost people. However, along the way they are joined by allies and enemies who have their own reasons for searching for the crystal and other forgotten powers, who question both the willingness of our heroes to accomplish their goals as well as have their own answers to the questions posed by the past, and have their own beliefs as to the state of the present world......

......and if their present world even has a future.

A spirit-of-adventure tale unrivaled by peers at the time of release or by modern successors, Mega Man Legends allows players to freely explore a remote island filled with danger, traps, ancient technology, quirky inhabitants, ferocious foes, and plenty of secrets.

Mega Man Legends had a sequel, Mega Man Legends 2, and a spin off, The Misadventures of Tron Bonne, where the main rival (and rival love interest) of Mega Man Legends and her delightfully incompetent minions pillage and plunder to stay one step ahead of would-be rivals and creditors who they owe a rather substantial debt towards....Misadventures of Trone Bonne is currently available on PS3, Vita, and PSP through Playstation Network for $6 (which is a STEAL compared to several hundred dollars for a physical disc).

And just like Comet Lucifer, Mysterious Girls in Crystals play a rather key role in in Mega Man Legends!

Mega Man Legends is available for PS3, Vita, and PSP for $10 through Playstation Network.

A third part of the series, Mega Man Legends 3, was in development before corporate restructuring at Capcom led to the project being shelved. Many believe that the current re-release of Mega Man Legends and it's spin off is a way for Capcom to measure whether or not the third entry should reenter development.

So, Crunchy. Have you ever played Mega Man Legends, it's sequel, or it's spin off?

Are you a Mega Man fan in general?

What is your favorite spirit-of-adventure game?

I played MML and Tron Bonne. MML is very good back in the PS1 days. Its a solid 8/10. MML nails a few things. While the story is kind of sparce (its only about 22hrs long) what is nails is the overall world and the characters (Tron Bonne is one of my fav female characters of that generation). Its kind of like Ghibli meets a saturday morning cartoon kind of vibe plus the voice acting is some of the best in the PS1 era. The combat is very fun and doesn't suffer from the many of the issues that plague 3rd person action RPGs. Boss battles were imaginative varied and fun. Drawbacks were the stuff outside the town and on the island were meh. There is also a bit a grinding for money/exp even in a game that short as well. I don't remember the soundtrack being bad, but I don't remember any of the tracks either.

I'd like to see MML get remade because while the graphics were extremely quality you could make it look like this even on the 3DS.

From what i remember Tron Bonne reminded me a lot of Harvest Moon. There was no real story there, just a handful of 1/2 hr missions that you do over and over again. It wasn't really memorable but not bad either. 7/10.

I didn't get the chance to play Mega Man Legends (or The Misadventures of Tron Bonne)... I'm somewhat interested in getting Legends for PS Vita.

What I do want either a remake or a re-release of though, is Mega Man X: Command Mission

MML2 stands to be in my top 10 games of all time with the first standing as Persona 4 Golden. I'm a very long time Mega Man fan, but Mega Man Legends really presented Mega Man in such a way that the other Mega Man series could never. The appealing and incredibly character design, the fun and engaging characters, beautiful artwork, and flat-out fun gameplay. I really don't think I like any other Mega Man series as much as the MML series- maybe the original but nothing else.
