I was happy that it never went super shonen action. With battles taking out whole cities. The whole invasion was never noticed by most people so that makes the way the final battle ended fit better.

Also its nice seeing a MC (especially one in high school) act like a normal person. i know that this is not specific to the ending but was one part of the show that I really liked.

I agree. In fact that's mainly what I meant by it being refreshing from what you'd expect from a shounen. They could have gone toward the predictable route of having Izumi going on some journey to find out about where the Parasytes come from and after his mother died he could have gone Eren Jaeger on us and declare he was going to kill all the Titans er- I mean Parasytes. And it could have been a nonstop brawl between Parasytes that would continue to get stronger. Now don't get me wrong, if they did that I still would have watched that because the fights in the anime were absolutely amazing and I'm 100% sure they could make an interesting storyline behind the mystery of the Parasytes from how they were introduced , but they took a different approach and focused on Izumi. By the end, I was surprised to see that I'd find a new refreshing approach to a shounen storyline in a shounen that wasn't actually new.

I really liked the series overall. However, I thought the last episode was very preachy and it got on my nerves. The actual ending was okay, but I was sick of the filibustering.

the ending was not open ended, it was complete. alot of people don't like the complete onces because it wraps everything up and likes to leave a few things open to the imagination. but honestly everything was straight forward, it ended as it should not like something crazy that keeps it at maximum excitement which is usually done for shows that try to leave space for another season or its a complete shonen but its not that kinda show.

i personally felt like everything was answered, people probably didnt feel that way because they long for something more i guess.

well there was one unanswered question, but the show never revolved around that topic anyways so there is no reason to answer it.

I felt the story was more about how humanity is just as much a parasite as the creatures that were infecting them. I mean, near the end when Shinichi finds out what's in the makeshift landfill, he gets upset about it. Then Migi basically reminds him, that if not for that landfill he'd be dead.

I personally felt the final episode was okay, I was kind of hoping they'd kill off Satomi, but I guess not... At the very least, to me they have left the story open for expansion; if they ever decide to expand on it. Shinichi makes it sound like they're not sure the Parasites are gone for good. So maybe Parasites will make an appearance farther into the future, but instead be more organized.

The main thing I wish would have happened, was that they would have added more Parasites and more PvP and PvH interactions. Reiko talks about killing 30 humans, but we only see her kill 2 or 3 if I'm remembering correctly. Some of the episodes seemed to be wasted on characters that didn't contribute at all or enough to the story to warrant how much focus was on them.

I don't exactly remember but I remember loving it, it gave me the signs that Migi was still alive or existing. So I'm happy with that, I loved the show

Honestly, Parasyte has had a better ending than most anime I have watched. I absolutely loved the final emotional scene atop a building with the obsessive serial killer trying to provoke Shinichi. As we watch this tragic show is finish up with a tragic ending we witness Satomi falling just out of Izumi's reach... It cuts to a dream like state with some touching dialogue and out of nowhere, Migi tells Shinichi that he's getting tired of holding and that he will leave it to Izumi. It all wraps up with some very interesting perspective showing how Shinichi, and Migi have completely evolved as characters. Worth a re-watch if you guys missed this. I think most people forget just how each character was when they were introduced.

TLDR;
Izumi Shinichi matures from an anxiety riddled shit to a brave, caring, and strong soul.
Migi comes to realize logic is not always the best approach and comes to cherish Shinichi.

I don't recall having any issues with the ending. I was pretty satisfied with the anime as a whole.
