"Nowadays everybody's in the church like they got something to say, but nothing comes out when they move their lips, just a bunch of gibberish and muthafuckas act like they forgot how to pray"

Now, in a lot of Pentecostal churches there's a point where they're like "Oh lawd naw, the spirit is here naw, it's strong naw, it's strong naw. Praise God naw"
At this point people begin crying, speaking in tongues and falling out going into convulsions. A sheet is thrown on them while the pastor is like, "FIRE!!! I bring FIRE!!! upon thee in the name of jesus, praise god naw"
and then more people start falling out and need to be caught.

However, this man was not caught and as a result sustained injuries. He sued the church for it.

Now I've seen two ways this slain in the spirit thing works. Here's the uncontrolled way

As you can see, people are not being "slain" in some orderly fashion, but rather, they're falling out randomly and acting independently
Here's the controlled way, as shown by Pastor Benny Hinn.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?list=LLypjUfOpfoLN2cwuKVCoc2w&v=ousKoyDxlDE
Here you see people falling out on command. Sometimes entire crowds. Here it appears like Jedi Master Benny Hinn is using the force. Everything seems to be under his control

Now... the idea that this is the Holy Spirit spoken of in the bible is ludacrous. This stuff it totally unblibical. However, I'm not a christian so I'm not blaming it on demons either.

So I have a theory. What if these people are tapping into spiritual energy that exists within them. As a result, when they tap into it, their brains cannot take it. It's too much power for our brains to contain and therefore we "short circuit" and start going ape.
Now as for the controlled type, I believe that a person can affect another persons soul. Perhaps spiritual energy can resonate? I've always believed in the 100% self-contained soul. I think the afterlife will be private. As in we won't go anywhere. We'll exist within ourselves like the god of our own universe. We can do anything and create anything within it.
However, even then, perhaps it's possible for souls to resonate and have an affect on one another.

There isn't any science to support the idea of a soul or spiritual energy. I think the phenomenon of people convulsing and "feeling the holy spirit" comes down to pure brain science. Emotion, adrenaline, suggestion, group dynamics. All these things can affect people in powerful ways. If I wanted to understand these phenomena those areas would be my first choices to study, before I would consider spiritualism.

And we had a lovely vacation from him this summer. Sadly, all good things must come to an end.

Anyways, what exactly does he want us to discuss here? I don't get it.

I believe those two concepts can coexist. Science and spirituality.

I think for the most part it's believing it so much that they end up doing it to themselves, perhaps some are actors, and others just go along with it for the sake of not being that one person it doesn't work for.

You can get the 'holy ghost' from other things. It's just a human phenomenon. Like when I talk about aliens or some type of deep chat about the universe I'll get goosebumps.
Don't mean to crush peoples hopes but I believe most of it is really just fake. I remember when I was younger I went to a church camp with my friend. They were doing prayers in a circle and one of the guys starting doing that thing, forgot what it is called (where they start spitting gibberish and it's the holy word of god, again don't take offense I am just describing it :p ) And It was interesting. Analyzing that event, I remember feeling the human pressure to be apart of the crowd. Do what everyone else is doing. It's just all a human effect imo.

Do you know why those preachers are using rhythmic, repetitive speech patterns, vivid descriptions of what's about to happen, and frequently either raise a hand or a Bible? It's all about suggestion, only preachers like Hinn have the benefit of an enormous amount of groupthink to reinforce their suggestions and peoples' willingness to enter a suggestible state right off the bat. People want to enter that state when they come to see those preachers.

There's no magic here. It's just hypnosis with a Bible instead of a spiral. This phenomenon is not especially difficult to explain.
