The one thing I will say about finishing college in my late 30's

My oldest daughter had just started high school. After looking at my homework and watching me study every night, she never dared complain about her workload.

My mother did her MA when her last born turned 18.

It's never too late to learn something new.

Yep, every year I find out what I can do to further my career. I'll keep the study habit for life.

I generally treat it like most other tests. That said, i almost always try to get with a study group beforehand even if i know the material well enough because it never hurts to do more work on a subject. I also like to get up early the mornings of any big exams and study at breakfast for a few hours before i have to get anything else done. Overdoing it has never done me any good so i just try to go over what i've learned and get as much out of the professor beforehand as i can to help determine what i spend my time looking at. Homework is still always the best reference to go by so we try to get any graded work back to us as a study aid, as well as any grading keys that the professors have used.

Not much really, since I don't give a shit. I usually just put together a study guide and I'm done, just re-assess the information you learned.

I just pay attention do my homework, the reason for a cram ses is because you didn't retain the information from the time doing the homework or in class, I don't do much, I just do school work and stuff around my house and anime. That is it..... I also learned the trick to retention is to actually find the subject interesting. I find all education interesting so it's easy for me I started by tricking myself into liking all the subjects now I just do. So it may be hard but during the time I spend on my hw I have understood the material. I don't study but I treat hw like studying.

Well, you can make it a bit less terrible by planning out your schedule weeks in advance and keeping abreast of when everything's due. I understand that things like family, friends, work, and emergencies can complicate things, but planning and good time management really do reduce the difficulty.

I can't say your experience isn't representative, and even with good planning there are weeks that are just awful during tertiary education (generally the week or two prior to final exams). Still, generally planning ahead at least gives you an idea of what you need to be doing when. Syllabi aren't just something you throw in your folder and then never pull out again.

Was an English major... No such thing as "studying" needed.. You just have to lose sleep for a few days writing papers and shit.

Religion major... aka utter ridiculousness... everything is studying but at the same time not.
like I should be memorizing the 12 link chain of dependent arising, but instead I'm analyzing Princess Mononoke. Both are work. one is just more fun. I bet you can guess which one I spend more time doing.

It's funny you should say that when here you are, whining about me. Although, I'm flattered that I'm the only thing that legitimizes your being here. maybe if you're a good boy, I'll make you a body pillow in my image. That way I'll always be there to remind you that you live for me.
