Alcohol is a funny drug makes you warm and feel euphoric but chemically its a major downer so when depressed and drinking can be a vicious downward spiral

A different perspective for me,sometimes it serves as a catalyst for new idea's for me I can see why a lot of artists drink a lot, though I couldn't imagine actually putting those ideas into creation till one sobered up. Also I know personally I'm quite prone to getting hungover the next day if I drink to much but how much are you drinking OP when you drink? Sounds like too much.

Wow, I never knew about that. You opened my eyes to something new! Although I mentioned heavy drinks, I only drink one but most I mentioned are the results of attending Filipino parties (I am 50%) and seeing what happens to others when they drink

Yea some people can just indulge too much. In my young age I've done that many a time although I didn't get belligerent or force myself onto girls, though I did throw up and got really obnoxious at times, couldn't remember the whole night (I personally don't find this to be a bad thing though kinda adds mystery to my life ), been incredibly hungover the next day, horribly expressed my idea on deep topics. It's all part of the process of learning who I am in relation to alcohol. The only thing I don't understand is drinking everclear I have a funny story on how I got my hands on some but long story short I had a drop touch my tongue and after observing the fire that was that little drop I was like,"Nope! I'm diluting this shit!" But now I just drink on occasion just to think about things or write a little.

If you are puking, making mad decisions, and getting a DWIs while drinking, then you are too young or too immature to be drinking.

Drinking is bad for you but if you're experiencing even a quarter of those problems then you absolutely should stop. Most people don't have those problems.

The reasons for consuming alcohol are innumerable and entirely subjective. Some enjoy the euphoria, others have simply found that drinking is something their friends enjoy doing and decide to consume to be social, others still consume because they're trying to take their minds off of difficult subjects (alcohol does, after all, have anxiolytic properties even if it's not a medicine for anxiety), even more drink because they're bored, and yet more drink because they've become physically and psychologically dependent on alcohol and can't resist the craving deprivation generates.

At the end of the day you have to keep in mind that alcohol, like any of the typical drugs of abuse, is rewarding.

As for myself, I drink while watching anime because the euphoria adds to the experience, particularly when friends and I play drinking games while watching. Also, vodka cocktails taste nice and are fun to mix. I'm not saying "Go out and drink, everybody!", but I am saying that there is something to be found in drinking if you do it responsibly.

Don't really seem the point of it.

I guess I could drink away my sorrows? But I have games and anime for that.

Have you ever disinfected something with isopropyl alcohol? The taste of straight vodka and grain alcohol is sort of like that smell. Alcoholic beverages all taste different, though, because they're made differently. Brandy has fruity flavours, whisky can take on the flavour of the wood its cask is made of, and cocktails vary in flavour depending on the proportions and components you use. Pour enough cola on top of vodka and it'll taste like cola.

I agree with this man.

In my case, I don't drink or smoke.
I love to eat though. I don't know why people like to bother me and expect me to bring Chinese Food. The fact is my first experience of eating Chinese is when I finally got here in America. I never had Chinese back home. Not to mention, we were so poor that going to a fast food back home was a luxury to us. We got easily broke just ordering value meals back there. But, here, in America, fast-food meals are so cheap I take advantage of it from all the things I couldn't do back then. For fourteen years, I grew up eating canned goods, yo.

Yep this.
It tastes good, it makes you feel good, its relaxing, it can make you happy, makes parties and gatherings more fun, gives you courage to do things like talk to girls or dance or sing or play better at pool or etc, a cold beer on a hot day is just fantastic, a nice scotch or wine on a cold night warms you up, it brings out converation in people, it can get you laid, its fun, lifes boring without it, i dont smoke or do drungs so i like alcohol, ETC

I wont lie, it aint all good. Yes i have been sick/puked, yes i have had memory loss, done stupid things, done embarrassing things, made bad decisions, had horrible hang overs, spent lots of money, had days off work, put on some weight, not been able to get it up, etc
But hey, thats part of growing up.
It aint all good but it's given me alot of fun and enjoyment.
Everyone has bad experiences but as you get older you learn how to be sensible and drink properly and what to and what not to do.
Your tastes change also. Instead of drinking just to get drunk you learn to enjoy and appreciate good alcohol.
Not to mention that some alcohol goes great with certian foods.

Not my thing. The taste never grew on me and I won't ignore the taste just to try and get to the warm fuzzy state. The whole hangover thing is another reason why I don't understand people drinking to excess. I also won't be drinking just because a friend or the company I'm with are drinking no matter how they coax. I make my own decisions.

I am not a wine drinker; therefore, if you wish to add wine to the discussion, then you are more than welcome. But please do not recommend me to try. I appreciate it!

It question startles me because I have drank long island icetea, everclear or minor drinks like margaritas; however, I see absolutely no point. It has been a year since my last drink. I see drinking is no fun due to the following reasons:

1. Kills Brain Cells
2. Waking up to a hang over
3. Shattered memories (Trying to remember what happened the day before)
4. The possibility of someone taking sexual advantage while drunk
5. The burning throat
6. Poor decision making
7. Puking on oneself
8. DWI
9. Become a truth spiller
10. Reveal opposite personality (Angry drunk for example)

I understand that drinking in a sense is fun to others; however, I do not share the same mindset. In addition, I know that moderate drinking can be beneficial to the health but there are other ways to maintain a good health without resorting to consuming alcoholic beverages which the risks outweigh the benefits.

In the end, there are other ways to have fun and there plenty of good drinks to consume. Please share your opinion! I look forwards to it!

1. So many things kill brain cells. It's not going to affect you very much in the long run unless you're a binge drinker. Don't make it a habit of finishing a handle a week and you're probably fine.

2. Drink water during your drink night. Problem solved. Also, drink in moderation.

3. Moderation. Learn to stop after a certain number of drinks. Drinking more slowly helps.

4. Well, yeah. This is why you drink with friends and don't get super drunk if you're planning on going places where there are strangers and your friends won't look out for you.

5. Drink water. Drink less.

6. Self-control in an inebriated state becomes easier as you do it more.

7. Moderation. Drink water. Drink slowly.

8. Stay in the right lane, go speed limit. And also know your limits. If you're 5'10" and 180 pounds, you're probably fine to drive after having a beer. I once told a cop my height and weight and how long ago I drank and he just let me go. I even blew a .25 on a breathalyzer in San Francisco when we were just chatting for fun with some cool cops and I reassured them I wouldn't be driving and that was that. If you're too messed up, don't be afraid to admit it and to rest for a while or call a taxi.

9. Better than being a liar and a wearer of various masks all the time. TBH, it's tiresome work. I enjoy my drunk chats with friends. It makes us feel closer.

10. That's just your inner self. The problem isn't alcohol. You have to change yourself fundamentally and cope with deep seated issues instead of blaming other things or other people.

True, you can achieve happiness and stress reduction by doing other stuff but nothing is the same as knocking down a few drinks with friends on a day off after working three weeks straight. You can still do other things, but it's hardly realistic to pretend that those other things can replace the experience of drinking alcohol. You could even recommend other drugs and they still probably can't replace the experience of drinking. I think alcoholic beverages are delicious, too.

I drink because I like tasting good alcoholic beverages, it's a quick and easy way to relax, nothing else is quite like it, it's great for socializing, and it's very easy to get alcohol. I do genuinely enjoy the flavor of a nice dark beer, a good whiskey, or a good sake. If it was all about the buzz, I'd be drinking shots but I don't do that because it's disgusting. It's surely an acquired taste, though.

I don't drink but it is true that most of the side effects you listed usually occur from consuming a lot of alcohol. However I would like to mention certain medication when combined with alcohol, can cause those side effects and others to occur even if you only have a little alcohol and may even result in death. To be clear it doesn't need to be directly, even if you took a med, even an over the counter one, much earlier in the day it can still interact with other drugs including alcohol.
Some random sources
http://pubs.niaaa.nih.gov/publications/Medicine/medicine.htm (has a very detailed list of how the drug interaction can manifest)
http://www.webmd.com/a-to-z-guides/alcohol-interactions-with-medications (basic but explains everything in good detail)

The difference, I don't get any of that. Well besides number one since you can't really not do that if you drink.

I drink, but never enough to get plastered, so I haven't experienced most of what you've stated there.

By that logic no one should eat unhealthy food or drink sugary beverages either, because they're bad for you. It's all about moderation and mindset, buddy. Having a few drinks with good friends or alone is relaxing and enjoyable.

I don't think anyone really likes the taste of alcohol. People just enjoy the euphoria the right amount of booze will give you. If you've only been drunk a handful of times, you don't know the right amount of booze. Drinking alcohol isn't for everyone, but it can lead to a more enjoyable experience.

I'll use my girl as an example, on our first date, she was so nervous and anxious that she wouldn't say much or enjoy herself. I asked her to try a couple of weak flavored shooters with me. Once she caught a buzz, the anxiety went away, euphoria kicked in, and she was able to enjoy the evening. By the time we were getting ready to go our separate ways she had been sober for hours, but felt way more at ease and got to know me a lot better due to not being so nervous.

Moderation is the key to everything. It's ok to indulge occasionally, but if you're drinking 3 nights a week and you're pounding the booze until you go stupid, then you're going to pay for it. If you have a bunch of booze with your family/friends at a wedding and dance the night away once a year, you're probably not going to cause too much damage.

...and as far as killing brain cells and making bad decisions, lack of exercise does the same thing, so does a poor diet, not being properly hydrated, experimenting with drugs, stressing about anything, the list just goes on. Everything causes you to lose brain cells and make bad decisions, you just have to be more aware of your situation and surround yourself with people you can trust to take care of you when you need them to.
