youtube and kissanime videos seem to work fine if i might add.

Good, now open up a terminal in your MAC and type the following:

ping www.crunchyroll.com
(Report the "lost" percent)

Run the traceroute in this article for www.crunchyroll.com https://www.godaddy.com/help/performing-a-traceroute-in-mac-os-x-3366

You should see numbers like 1,2,3,4,5,6,7....18 as it continues. Let me know what number it stops at or if you see any request times out.

For the ping I don't know what you meant by the "lost percent". It should that the time was = to between 50 and 60 ms. No sequence was missing .
For the traceroute it stopped at 10

Not horrible... But crunchyroll's media servers are probably not at crunchyroll.com

I am having the same problem as you and its been going on for about a month across different operating systems. Crunchyroll is having some growth issues.

Are you connected using a 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz wireless connection? 2.4 may suffer from more interference on a crowded band and slower speeds while 5 has a lower effective range.

Fabulous, those are good network results. Let's throw network problems out the picture on your end. One last thing before we come to a conclusion.

Right click on the video you want to watch
Click on Settings....
Uncheck Enable Hardware Acceleration

Correct but it is a start because giving out the media server network address would be in for another DOS attack which will affect everyone.

I hope they fix it soon, I was just trying to see if there was anything I could do on my end to help fix the problem, but if I can't then kissanime is where you will find me lol. I don't know if I should buy another month or not because of this constant lag.

I'll try that, but will that put much strain on the cpu?

Considering that you have a Macbook pro, you are most likely running an integrated graphic card which basically shares CPU resources. It will put more strain on the CPU; however, what else will you be doing while watching an anime?

The media server for at least one series is 141.101.123.175. It's not a secret everytime you ask for more buffer you have to contact that IP address. Just watch where requests are being sent/received from and you got the media server.

Sometime when it is buffering slow: ping 141.101.123.175

I just pinged it during buffer slowdown and got:

Pinging 141.101.123.175 with 32 bytes of data:
Reply from 141.101.123.175: bytes=32 time=902ms TTL=53

Haha, did that resolve your issue by disabling hardware acceleration?

Try touching your computer in inappropriate places, it might work faster.

Unfortunately no, there was still lag. I emailed crunchyroll, but it seems like they have a bot respond to you with the same thing saying they'll personally look into. The most i got from them was change something with my dns. But hopefully crunchyroll will fix their servers since this seems to be more on their end than ours (the people experiencing the problems.)

While I am not experiencing any problems streaming videos from Crunchyroll and my ping is relatively low from 20-33ms; although, it jumps to 80-150 during peak times. Good that you emailed Crunchyroll as I can no longer provide any help since we ran through common causes; therefore, the issue is most likely related to their end. When they are saying to change your DNS, you are not using your service provider DNS and using a public DNS. Just keep in mind that some ISP do not like you changing your DNS.

Never fear, the problem is, in fact, not on your end. CR's media player doesn't allow for pre-loading like other websites such as YouTube do.
