Post Reply Do some people really assume that girls only watch shounen for the yaoi pairings and the good-looking guys?

I was joking. I watch shounens because fighting is exciting and I like both guys and girls who kick ass. The same reasons most guys watch it, I would guess.

There are hot guys in shoujo series and actual yaoi exists so I am not sure why shounen would be singled out for attracting those viewers.

There was a harem anime where one of the harem members loved the main character but she didn't want to be with him because she wasn't a guy and she wanted the MC to be in a gay relationship.

She should figure out how gay works.

The assumptions about shounen series probably comes from the massive body of fan art on the Internet. But for the most part if people want to pair dudes from shounen series then I say have at it. I am a little peeved at the fujoshi brigade for scaring everyone away from Hetalia, though.

I consider them losers, go watch those Yaoi anime if that's your thing but to go watch or read an actual story and you are only paring characters left and right is stupid, that's why places like tumblr is full with gay ass shit.

As a Hetalia fan, I can agree with this.

I don't really get shipping, myself. I understand having "crushes" on fictional characters, but that involves YOU. You are fantasizing, you are in the fantasy, you are having a romance in your daydreams with that character you particularly like. But rooting for non-gay characters to have a gay relationship that excludes you completely from the fantasy baffles me a bit.

I get hoping two characters will get together for the sake of the story, or because that's where you'd like it to go compared to the alternative. Like, the Naruto pairings have had actual consequences, with their kids continuing the canon plot. There were actual hints of NaruHina throughout the story, so hoping it would become official was totally reasonable.

There's a line between "I just think they'd be cute together" and posting impossible OTP fan art all over Facebook.

TL;DR--some people like to watch.
