Full Summary:
Melody Rolands was your typical 22 year old with a typical life. She worked at the local grocery store, she lived at home still with her mother and two cats. She hung out with friends. A typical life she had until that night she met Leonard Bedington.
It was only by chance that she had met the memorizing handsome gentlemen, however little did she know that behind that meltable smile and charm was a hunter of the un-dead. Now she is caught in-between a normal life during the day; and the living dead at night. Helping Leonard, along with his only vampire friend Sakura; they hunt for the head
of all the vampires; Lord Richard Montegram.
How will she be able to handle a life so dangerous and thrilling yet still be able to live a normal life like a normal person? How will she be able to handle the desires of her heart as she falls for the vampire hunter, as the vampiress falls for her; and yet with-in all this drama and mayhem be able to keep the normality of her daily life?
Warnings: *for the PG-13 version*Angst, rape mentioned, violence, and some mild cursing.
I hope you guys enjoy this prologue; please tell me what you think and yes, eventually there will be vampires in this story....just not the first few chapters or so and I apologize about that; but they are coming I will promise you that.
Ok enjoy this story!!
Prologue
It started out like any other 'ordinary day' should begin. Waking up at four in the morning, just to make sure tardiness wouldn't become an issue for the day. Taking a ten minute shower and exiting the foggy bathroom completely dressed in the store's required uniform. Not to mention the normal 'trip' of falling over one of the two hungry cats; the over weight cat, of course. Yes, another day of the normal routine...or so it had seemed.
"Ok, ok. I hear you."
A young woman said in an alto voice as she looked down at the two hungry cats rubbing against both of her legs, which were collecting some of the fur on her slim demin jeans. Enough hair to possibly make a third cat if it was even possible. Her greenish-hazel eyes closed behind long lushes eyelashes as a sigh escaped her thin peach colored lips.
One of her child like hands smoothed back her damp brown hair; her hand resting at the base of her neck, scratching it a bit. Her eyes opened to look down at the two cats, who continued to rub against her. Annoyance could be seen in her face, as the meowing continued as well.
"Alright, let's go." she said with a bit of annoyance. "Down stairs now!"
She took a step forward, being careful not to step on either of the cats, which was difficult to say the least. However, she managed to make it past the two hungry felines without any problems. When she reached the stairs, however, she almost found herself falling down them as both cats; who had been following close behind her decided
to dash down the stairs as if she wasn't allowed to beat them to the kitchen. After gripping onto the side of the wall for support, she made another sigh before heading down the stairs and entering the kitchen.
It was a decent size kitchen, with all of the modern day appliances one might need to survive in this day in age. It was a light color with golden color tiles which contained fancy designs within each tile. To the left was a black refrigerator that looked almost brand new; as well as the stove that sat next to it and the microwave in the wall above the stove. The only appliance that didn't seem to be new was the black dishwasher that was next to the sink and across from the main doorway. A golden brown rectangular table was to the girl's right, with three chairs matching around it. A decent size television sat on the counter above the dishwasher; a post it note stuck to the blank screen.
The girl ignored the two meowing cats; who now sat next to their own empty dish, while watching her with hungry eyes; begging her to feed them. She walked up to the television and pulled off the note, which was addressed to her.
Melody,
I was called in early for an emergency operation. I should be back around dinner time. We're having baked chicken that I made yesterday with some sort of vegetable. I haven't decided yet.
Love You
Mom
Melody turned towards the cats who continued to look at her with those big hungry eyes. She gave them a slight smile before reaching for their dry cat food. She scooped some out and poured an equal portion in each of their bowls before opening the cabinet that had all of the cereals in it. Taking out the Cheerios, she put the box on the table before turning on the tv, which turned on to the local news. As she was getting the other ingredients for breakfast out, her attention was drawn towards the screen.
"In local news, a woman who was attending Atlethe's High School was found four blocks away with a strange mark on her wrist."
Melody raised an eye brow while pouring some Cheerios into her bowl, her eyes looking from the tv to what she was doing.
"Amy Gibson is at the school live. What can you tell us Amy."
Melody put the milk away and sat back down at the kitchen table; her focus continuing to stay on the news reporter on
the screen.
"Thank you Bill. Local authorities are still investigating the strange attack that left a girl in critical condition. It happened not to far from this school." the report began, a brick building with a huge sign that read 'Athlete's High school' behind her.
Melody took a few spoon full of her cereal as a woman appeared on the TV screen.
"'I knew the girl. She was such a sweet and kind youn' on'. I can't believe som'en coulda done this to her.'" the woman said on the screen, her name and affiliation to the 'victim' printed under her interview with the reporter.
"So far the police have no leads or clues leading to how or why this could have happened."
The reporter said before the scene changed again to a young man who seemed to be a student at the school.
"'It sounds like a *beeping * horror movie if you ask me. By the so called 'marks' on her wrists, it sounds like a *beeping* vampire did it or some *beep* like that.'" the guy said, making Melody roll her eyes.
'Kids these days and their dirty little mouths.' she thought.
"The girl's identity is still being with held, until the police can contact the girl's parents. This is Amy Gibson with channel 2 news; back to you Bill."
'That must have been mom's emergency.' Melody thought, before changing the station.
She decided she rather be watching something less, depressing at the moment. She flipped through the channels awhile until she came across a show that seemed to be light hearted enough to get her through the morning meal; before heading off to work.
~~~~~~~(A few hours later)~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Have a wonderful day!"
Melody had probably said it about the hundredth time that day, but like the first ninty-nine times; she meant what she said. It seemed like every customer was new and had at least one stupid question. However, Melody didn't mind helping, especially the really cute guys that asked her such stupid questions; though that wasn't too often. She went back to stocking the shelves of tampons when one of her fellow stockers came up to her, pushing a flat top which was loaded with loads upon loads of items that needed to be put on the shelves.
"Do you REALLY have to say that to all of the customers Melo?"
Melody's fellow stocker asked. She had known Melody for almost eight years now; both attended the same high school and now worked together at the same job. She was around 5'6", being only 6 inches taller then Melody. Her long silky black hair and unusual green eyes; along with her pale skin, had her be every guy's fantasy. She has legs that were silky smooth while her breasts could not help but be seen, no matter what the outfit.
Today, she had her hair up in a high pony tail with some strands of the hair braided down her back while other strands stayed loose. She didn't care that they had to wear a uniform; she was going to make her style shine through no matter what.
"Of course I do. It's only the right thing to do." Melody said, putting up the last tampon. "Do you need any help with that load, Ray?"
Ray shook her head.
"I got it. There's more then effort shit in the back room for you to put up."
Melody sighed.
"One of these days you'll say 'yes' to my help."
"When Hell freezes over and opens as an ice cream store." Ray snorted, a small slim of a smile crossing her lips; though only those who knew the girl best would know it was there.
"I would visit every day if that happened." Melody laughed, making the other girl laugh as well.
At that moment the intercom turned on.
"Rachiel Swanson, please come to the front desk for customer assistance."
Rachiel rolled her eyes.
"Can't they learn any other names then mine?"
"Apparently not." smirked Melody.
"Meldoy Rolands please come up to bag."
Melody's smirk disappeared and turned to a glare as she found her friend laughing at her misfortune.
"Oh by the way Melo, some of us were going to head to that new night club called 'Midnight Fever' tonight. Would you like to join?" Rachiel asked, as the two of them made their way to the front of the store; though moving slower then a turtle.
"I don't know...I mean, i"m not much a dancer; nor a drinker at that."
"I know that, but you know I'm not one for the drinks either. It would still be fun and you hardly ever go out except to work and what fun is that? You need to get out and party once in a while, show some skin, be a little crazy!" Rachiel said while flinging her arms out to make it more dramatic.
Melody sighed. She knew Rachiel was right. She never went out or hung out like most young adults her age did. She was only 22 years old and never even once had a boyfriend! Not to mention she only had three close friends and two of them she barely saw because of college. She felt that college was highly over-rated and not right for her. Rachiel; though not the party animal did get out of the house. She had recently got a new Subaru Forester 2002 and didn't mind being like a taxi service to anyone that needed a car.
However, unlike her friend, Melody had her car stolen about three years ago and never really felt the urge to go out and find a new one. What was the point of getting a car if you have no where to go? Her work was barely five blocks away and why spend money on car insurance if you rarely have people to hang out with? A waste of money in her opinion.
But the idea of being invited to hang out with a group of people, that sounded better then what she had plained to do that night anyway. The only thing would be, she would have to call her mother and tell her that she was going out, just so she didn't think she got kidnapped on the way home from work or something.
"Who's going?" Melody asked.
Rachiel shrugged as the two of them turned the corner of the aisle; and both of them moaned in unison at the long lines of customers who didn't look too happy to be waiting to be checked out with their groceries. However, this didn't make either girl quicken their pace in the least; only making them take their time even more.
"Well of course me and Roger, and the twins Martin and Lorance. Also, I got Crystal to join in and same with Daniel. So its a pretty big group." Rachial said, slipping past one of the aggravated customers.
Melody thought about the group for a moment. They seemed like a nice group to go out partying with. They seemed nice at the store and were hard workers; although who knows how they acted out side of a working environment? Both of them where now closing in on the front desk, meaning Melody had to make her decision now or wait until after the lunch time rush; which could take about three hours or so depending on how many cashiers were scheduled and who called out 'sick' or not.
"Alright...but you gotta help me pick something out for tonight." Melody said, though already dreading her words.
Rachiel had an evil glint in her eyes as she winked at her friend.
"I thought you'd NEVER ask." she snickered before rushing off to jump into an open register.
Melody couldn't help but get the feeling she would regret asking Rachiel to help with her wardrobe, however her thoughts turned to the crowds of people who needed their food and other essentials to be bagged. She decided to worry about that after work, for the moment her focus was taking care of all of the people who were in a hurry to get out of the place and go home or back to work.
End of Prolouge.
I hope you guys enjoyed this so far and please leave me a review. And I promise, I will read the other stories ^^; I'll have time soon! I swear!! haha ^^.
