Babies need to eat. And shouldn't be punished because some people want to sexualize their food source. If you can't handle a boob in public, you need to grow up.

It's called compromise. I don't want women to whip out their boobs, they want to whip out their boobs. They don't listen to reason, so I guess let them. BUT, when I don't want to look, but I glance a time or two and get treated like a huge pervert... I'm about to get pissed... AND, I'm going to make sure I let them know that I think they should have covered up to begin with.

Attraction to boobs is just as natural as breastfeeding, and they are, in fact, related from an evolutionary standpoint, so I don't feel these women can use the "it's natural" argument, and then bitch about men who look.

Honestly, if a baby needs milk, it needs milk, not much else to it.

But, there really is much more to it. There are pumps to have milk pre-pumped, there are covers, there are places you can go. You don't want to go to the bathroom? OKAY, I get that... but maybe a park bench on the BUSIEST park trail is also a bad choice? Maybe?
There is really NO valid reason to defend public breastfeeding. Many women pump. There is no significant value difference between pre-pumped and "straight from the tap" breast-milk.

Also, when this crap first started, many of the women I saw as the biggest advocates for public breastfeeding, because it is "natural," are the very same women who believe in breastfeeding for much more of a child's life. There is nothing "natural" about breastfeeding a 3-year-old.

Actually just because pumps exists doesn't mean it suitable for every mother needing to feed a child. Sometimes it just doesn't work for some women no matter what type of pump they try. Hygiene wise breast feeding is best. It does not rely on having to sterilize equipment, making sure milk and equipment get stored and or carried around and finding a way to heat the milk to the perfect temperature for the baby to go. With breast feeding all the mother needs to do is be there herself. All a mother has to to is make sure she's kept her nipples clean and that baby can be fed any time any where quickly with the milk at the right temperature.

Wow, the entitlement!!

You don't want women to whip out their boobs, and the fact that they take their child's needs over your archaic beliefs is "unreasonable"? That's rich, it really is.

Until you have boobs and the capability/need to physically feed a baby, you don't get to decide if a women should pump, cover herself, or "go somewhere".

No one is saying don't be attracted to boobs. But give me a break, you can control yourself. Just as you shouldn't be oogling women in the first place, stop sexualing the act of feeding a baby. Geez.

Call it entitlement, call it whatever you want. I refuse to be made out to be a pervert, when the reality is that I would rather they cover up. It's just that simple.

No, I'm not going to stare... but yeah, the occasional, stray glance will happen. It's easy for someone to just say "control yourself," but, there are some things that we are either A.) attracted to or B.) repulsed by on a very instinctual level. Just as people naturally look away from REAL gore, in most cases. Throwing a baby in front of the boob does not turn that off.

I'm entitled because I say "Do what you want, but don't criticize me for my natural response to it?" OKAY. If that's how you want to twist it.

EDIT: And I'm not sexualizing anything, by the way. That is making the assumption that attraction to boobs is not instinctual... which it is.

Also, there is a big difference between ogling and having a stray glance that makes even me uncomfortable.

If I REALLY wanted to see boobs attached to babies, I'd be encouraging it... so, AGAIN, stop acting like I'm the pervert.

I think they get turned on by the fact that there is a boob out there and they haven't been close to one in a while... or ever.

I haven't ever really seen it happen. I don't pay that much attention to what isn't directly affecting me anyway.

They do make things like breast pumps and bottles. If you are taking your baby to a public place then you should have a bottle or two prepared for that. A responsible parent would make those kinds of preparations. A responsible person wouldn't want to create that kind of awkward situation for... however many people that are around them while they are doing it.

To me it would be much faster and more respectful to the people around you if you just took a bottle out of a bag.

It's honestly not archaic that women should cover themselves. It's how our society works. Neither men nor women generally walk around topless. When you go swimming in a public pool, you are expected to cover your private areas, men being their lower half, women being both lower and upper halves. I don't understand why taking a little measure of covering it up is a big deal? That's pretty much common courtesy.

You also wave your right to privacy by doing it out in public. Sorry, that's just how it is. Someone stares? What can you tell them? It's not illegal to stare at someone. Does it bother you? Sorry unfortunately it's part of the ball game. Is there a limit? Sure, if it gets to the point of harassment , or if you try to move and they follow you, that's an issue.

I have no issue with however a person chooses to feed their baby, however don't expect society's views on nudity to change just because they're doing something "natural" Peeing is natural but I'm not about to whip out my penis and pee in front of you. I have no issue either way, honestly; but I do understand someone might, so I don't think any women breast feeding in public should have an issue with covering up a little within reason if asked. I have issue when they raise a stink about being asked.

You can not compare peeing to feeding a baby.

Why not? One is ingesting and one is expelling. They are both functions of digestion. Both expose ADULT parts considered "private" by society.

Maybe it is just because you can't stand an argument that you cannot defend against?
