I think it would make sense to delete posts rather than just delete an entire thread. Especially and active thread.

"Quotes from the post."

You're saying Mods should post what's against the rules to post.

Also, if you don't understand why a post was deleted, you can contact a staff member:

http://www.crunchyroll.com/staff

I'm not sure what kind of forum system CR uses, but in all the ones I've administrated (in recent years anyhow), staff can usually see the "deleted" posts and tell you what was wrong. (Generally, the post is still not erased entirely, but only has a flag set to make it invisible to normal forum members and guests.)

Would kind of defeat the purpose of deleting it, wouldn't it?

There are mods that do pm the reason after it has been deleted

I don't care, as long as they do not delete a whole thread because of an A-hole troll who ruined the thread. Just delete the dang posts.

I've actually had this happen, and I won't name the mod... but...

I contacted them, and told them how I felt about the matter.... they were really nice about the whole thing, and even agreed it may have been better if they just deleted the posts. My point being, mods are awesome for the work they do, but they ARE human, so don't be too much of an A-hole if they do something you think is wrong.

EDIT: Also... ultimately, your opinion doesn't mean anything anyway... so try to be respectful when you express it. I can't help myself, when I disagree, but there are lines I try to not cross...with anyone I deal with. Mods even moreso.

No. They have no reason to. If your post gets deleted, it's because it violates the CR Forum Rules.

I've seen the mods here go as far as to just delete specific words from a post, or give a warning rather than flagging initially. Out of all the forum sites I've been on, that's the most courteous I've ever seen an issue handled.

Hmm not for me, this is probably the first forum that i have ever been on where entire threads are deleted without warning.
No post's deleted or edited or warnings just bang, thread gone.
I've seen it happen here several times.
Even on threads that seem very popular or ah, active.
Seems a bit shit to me but eh.
Not just locked either but gone.
Usually in the past(at other forums) a mod would give warnings or clean the thread up a bit.
The only time i have seen a mod do that here is when people didn't trim down a post enough when it was a quote of a quote of a quote of a quote, etc
or when people posted an image or video link as a response.
Seems lame to me that if one person flags something that the entire thread gets deleted.

I think they should. I have had to deal with one that has been highly unreasonable to the point of borderline harassment. There is at least one that abuses her power for little reason other than what seems to be a personal grudge.

huehehe, trying to enforce rules on mods, that's funny.

I did have one post where I was trying to keep a couple of people from getting off topic deleted for being off topic which was kinda ironic and funny. The mod told me why it was deleted, and the reason is (obviously) understandable. I say it's up to the mod. As long as they aren't Nazi's they really shouldn't have to go too far out of their way to tell you what you did wrong.
