I don't think many of the post 2000s generation will really get "that" struggle.

Especially torrenting.
I still remember almost getting my family arrested because of Kazaa/Limeware and trying to catch up on Inuyasha fansub movies.

can you imagine waiting a month just to get another filler episode. lol

...and if there are a couple of fillers in a row, you get a couple month's worth of fillers.

At least there were raffles at the end of club meetings for the clubs that had them. Sometimes you win random anime stuff.

So you'd say this ( http://www.amazon.de/Love-Chunibyo-Other-Delusions-Sammelschuber/dp/B010MFD7PW/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1444935828&sr=8-4&keywords=love+and+other+delusions ) is better? Don't think so. And yes, that's only the first 4 Ep.

No but this is (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Love-Chunibyo-Other-Delusions-DVD/dp/B00XHWURW4/ref=sr_1_1_twi_dvd_2_twi_blu_2_twi_dvd_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1444985932&sr=8-1&keywords=love+and+other+delusions) better and yes that the complete series.

At about a price I'd used to pay for 1 and half VHS tapes which amount to 3 episodes with no extras, poorer quality resolution and one choice of audio. It's only been fairly recently that some markets have been able to get full season/ half season boxsets on pretty much most releases. Only a few years ago it was still piecemealed out and full season of some shows were £120 plus at £20 a pop for 3-4 episodes. Now it's about £19-25 ish for a full 13-24 episode season on DVD or £30-40 on Bluray.

Also now a days you get a much bigger range of choice in shows to choose from. As more shows tend to make it to western release than before and more seem to come over from the US market if at a much later date than the US release. I find apart from general costs as imports are still cheaper, I have little reason to import than say 7-8 years ago. Since I'm patient and I have netflix, crunchyroll and lovefilm so I can wait till it gets a UK release and the cost drops before buying DVD/Blurays anyway, as I've got plenty of stuff to watch till then. Something else which generally didn't happen on DVD's until a sale happen and then it wouldn't be many titles unless clearance. The online market means prices are not static and patience can reward with lower costs, plus there was no rental of digital streaming for anime (legally) till recently either or even Simulcasts. At best you get the latest Ghibli film at the local rental place and that's about all.

Overall the fans of today have it much better than when I started over two and a bit decades ago. I'm sorry that it still sucks in the German market as far as dvd sales goes. But it certainly is much much better now in some markets and so the OP point still stands.

That's not an anime fan problem, it's the human condition.

We immediately get used to the way things are and expect improvements regardless of the way things used to be.

Would you ever go back to 28.8k modems if you had the opportunity? Heck no. Could the web load even faster than it does now? Seems like it can -- let's hurry up with fiber all over, I can't stand my 2 second load time!

Damn traffic, takes me over half an hour to get to work. Am I going to routinely stop and wonder at how lucky I am I don't have to spend 6 hours on a horse ride? No.

I don't know, some of us are satisfied with having a 2 second load time. The real reason why we even have efforts to have better internet is because you'll literally save millions by being one second faster than the competition.

Oh, please. Throughout most of my childhood, KIDS WB was my only source of anime. While many of you gripe about "people these days," we have kids making everyone look spoiled rotten.

The envy is strong.

Appreciation is learned. Humans can rise above their condition via learning.

This is not about envy but having people appreciate what they have. If you don't have such an issue then simply move on

Its pointless to say fans nowadays are spoiled. They're simply living in their reality, in the conditions that we of the "older generation" have created for them (I'm even older than you, so I know exactly what you're talking about). Our parents thought we were spoiled, their parents thought they were spoiled, and on and on.

I don't quite understand what you mean when you say current fans are 'complaining'. I presume you mean getting upset about a certain show not being available, or not being available at a certain time? I'm pretty sure that happened in 'the old days' as well, when a certain VHS tape was already checked out by someone else at the rental store, or what have you. Every generation has its own set of trials and tribulations, and its pointless to compare them.

I might add (and this was pointed out elsewhere) that once one gets used to a different and/or better level of technology, one can become just as 'entitled' and full of complaints as younger generations. I also get irritated when things don't load quickly, or when something isn't available on time, because that's the current technological world I'm living in.

Which is a brilliant point. It's only through the support and demands on the industry by fans over the last several decades that the fans of now get a much better experience of the genre than when we did decades ago. In a few years it maybe even better and I'm sure we'll see threads like this pop up several times again in between now and then.

Exactly. The thirty, forty, and (perhaps) fifty-somethings will be the ones running the companies and inventing new technologies that younger generations will take advantage of.

All of this reminds me somewhat of my two nephews (aged 5 and 3). They're part of what I would call the 'iPad generation'. Even when they're watching TV, they think it has to be touched to control it.
