Or anyone who has common sense, lol.

So I was in need of a new car battery and the cables looked a little sketchy as well. So i changed the cables too! Never done any of this myself before and sure enough a problem has occured.

When I'm trying to re-connect the negative battery cable to the battery it's sparking at me. Is this as simple as me connecting the cables to the wrong terminals? Hoping that's all it is.

OP sounds like the sort of person that tests car batteries by licking them.
If you don't know what you're doing, look it up before pulling your car apart.

I found my answer, It was the wrong cables to the wrong terminals. I just turned the battery around. And this post was included in me "looking it up", searching for the answer. Thanks
