I wonder in which ways it's going to affect regulation laws, and laws concerning crime..

What happens if someone kills themselves using these self driven cars? or someone else? Who'd be held responsible in court?

I'd be too paranoid. The thought of me going to sleep in a car and just thinking about how bad GPS's can sometimes, and then adding that to a car. I couldn't do it. I would just think how it would like drive itself off a cliff or something. Also like someone else said, they could get hacked.

Depends.

If I'm coming home from work then I wouldn't mind the car to drive me home cause I'm usually too tired to drive. But if I need to get somewhere quickly then I need to drive myself cause I ain't driving the speed limit and I have my shortcuts I like to take.

It'll only be a matter of time before the AI cars turn on their human masters. Then we'll need Blade Runners for cars.

I'm torn on this. On one hand, I'm excited for this because I hate driving. On the other hand, being out of control is scary. Like somebody said earlier in the thread what if the car gets hacked?

All well and good until someone hacks them and holds a city for ransom during rush hour.

I think I'll stick to my '60s muscle cars, thank you very much.

Came across this:
http://www.cnet.com/news/tesla-autopilot-fail-videos-nobody-likes-to-listen/

Seems like the bugs aren't quite out of the semi-autonomous "autopilot" mode on the Teslas

Reminded of a possibly apocryphal story I read somewhere online that back in the 50s some guy crashed his car because he thought cruise control meant the car drove itself.

They're great. About 1.3 million people die in car accidents each year, if self-driving cars become wide spread, or even mandatory, the number of deaths will drop significantly.

They are incredible and will be on the road soon.

There's going to be a lot of unemployed long-haul truck drivers in the next 10 years.

A lot of big trucks are already programmed to drive back and forth without someone at the wheel.
