Just leave it there. I know what it's like to lose something, and go looking for it, only to find it's not there anymore.

Give the wallet back to the person.

I personally have no desire for money when I don't need it, I also believe in karma, if I stole as much as a penny from the wallet I believe I'd later lose more than what I stole. However, I cannot just let someone else steal the wallet, that said, if this does happen, which around my area it has happened several times, this is what I'd do:

1. Look for something like a driver's license or personal ID, something which contains enough information to track them to their home, often for me just an address or full name is enough, as I know Portland like the back of my hand and I've probably passed by the address of the person's house.

2. Next, go to their home, ask if they are <insert their full name here>, if yes, I ask "Is this your wallet you dropped at <insert location here>?" if they are not at home, I'll leave the wallet at their door with a note saying "lost your wallet?"

Many may say that I should have stolen the wallet, and yes, if I did steal it, I'd be making average 50$ a week just off lost wallets, but I think that unless I truly need the money, the right thing to do is to return the wallet to it's owner.

Oh, and for those who would steal the wallets money ==============
Karma REALLY can be an ass, my brother once stole a $50 from a wallet, I told him to return the wallet, he refused, a week later, my brother lost his wallet (which had $400 in it at the time) and when he went back to where he must have had dropped the wallet, the wallet was there, but all the money was stolen, I told him he should learn what karma means.

Ehhh I personally believe in karma, in 5th grade I saw a wallet with couple of hundred dollars bills on top of a certain seat in the park, took some of the money and left some, anyway I took 50$ since I really wasn't interested in money itself but rather what I currently wanted which was some food. Few days later a girl with sunglasses that seemed around 20-26 sat beside me without me noticing, she asked for the money I stole and after a short argument I` gave her the 50 dollars

she looked at me and said" Don't ever steal again, ok? for now I'll buy you anything you need but in exchange you should never do this again" she said this and hand and bought me some food"at this movement I felt really disgusted that I really cried while eating, cause if I hated anything in the world the most, it would be to be looked down upon, to get pitted by others. "She finished her meal and told me that she's leaving"anyway few days later, I asked my mom to give me money in exchange of doing some work for her, I did and it took around 3 days to earn the 50$, I went to the same park and saw the girl again and shoved the 50$ in her hands and simply left without saying anything, I didn't want to own anyone anything, and for that reason she came after me and patted my head saying "now you're a gentleman ." After that day I got to know her and she turned out to be my older sister's friend

So yeah, I would've just ignored that shit.

Indeed, it was pain in the ass to think about it back then but now I'm certainly glad that it happened
