When is cruchyroll going to let read manga on the app for kindle fire? All you can do now is watch anime and drama.

I've moved this to our Manga Support forum.

I agree it would be nice if you could just install the app from Amazon's app store. I was able to sideload the apk for the Crunchyroll Manga App on my Fire HD 7 (4th gen?) and have it work pretty well, but I never tried with my older Kindle Fire.

ETA: The Manga app is a separate app, btw, so I guess there's a possibility it does install fine on the app store for some versions. As far as I know there are no plans to make manga part of the same app as the one for watching video (anime and drama) though.

The Amazon app store is pretty useless... I suspect it's because they run their own modification of an old android version which no one develops for anymore. Even the Anime app is now listed as incompatible with my HD (between original and HDX) even though I had installed it earlier before newer HD versions came out.

Since google and Amazon aren't on the best of terms, you can't download any app from the Google Play Store, either. Kindles aren't "registered" devices.

That leaves few choices. Do nothing, buy something else... or download the apk files from a third source and sideload them. I've had moderate success with 1mobil market, which is supposedly a legit site that checks for viruses and weird plug-ins, etc, the apps there install and function mostly OK. It's hard to be sure if you're getting completely safe copies anywhere though.

The separate Manga app gives me a "this won't work" message about google services not being present every time I start it, but that goes away and it allows me to use it after a short time. Selection of a given manga title is only in portrait mode, but after you get in to the chapters, it works a little better for me to finally be able to switch to landscape at times because that makes the text larger. Lots of scrolling, though, to follow the panel direction sometimes, but everything else seems to be OK, bookmarks, etc...

Oh right. Thanks for mentioning that, since I forgot. I'm not positive I see it every time I start up, but I do see it pretty regularly, and the it goes away after a few seconds.

I'm confused. There is a Crunchyroll Manga app in the Amazon appstore but apparently it won't work on any of my kindle devices? This sucks. CR needs to make a manga app that works on the kindle.
