Metal is life.... Metalhead, I am one but not the stereotypical tattoos and piercings everywhere kind of one. My favorite metal band would have to be Dokken because the original lineup had George Lynch, who's guitar playing is incredible.

I've never really encountered a metalhead before so I don't have two cents to offer in regards to that, but on another note...
Dragonforce is god tier metal.

I love heavy metal and I am a metalhead. I been to AC/DC, Scorpions, KISS, and Led Zeppelin concerts to mention a few. I listen to Rammstein and Dir En Grey. Recently, I was introduced to a couple of European Heavy Metal bands:Oomph!, Eisbrecher, and Parasite Inc. I like other music as well such as classical music and Johnny Cash, Also seen the movie "Heavy Metal". You should see it if you have not, it's classic.

I guess I'd call myself a metalhead. I started listening to metal back in the early '80s, when it was surging in popularity, and I still listen to a lot of it to this day, namely Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Black Sabbath, Ozzy Osbourne, Metallica, and countless others. I'm not too up on today's scene, but most or all of those groups are still going. So, while its not my only or even necessarily my favourite genre, it's a big part of my music listening experience.

As for the style, I did sometimes wear those shirts with the 3/4 length sleeves and band logos or iron-ons on the front, and had posters on my wall, but I never really banged my head, did the devil horn salute, held up a lighter at a concert, or sported long, stringy, mullet-y hair.

I love all the bands that you mentioned (Maiden is my favorite 80's metal band and their concerts are so much fun if you've ever been to one of them), plus AC/DC, Aerosmith, Kiss, Rush, Megadeth, Dio, The Scorpions, Van Halen, Motley Crue, Motorhead, and of course, Led Zeppelin. I'm a fan of 70's/80's hard rock/heavy metal, but this isn't the only genre I listen to. I'm pretty much a classic rock guy in general, plus I also like some blues. As for the new metal, well I never got into the Nu Metal scene, nor am I a fan of death/black metal (those Norwegian black metal bands are a scary lot) or grindcore. But there are some newer bands that still stick to the game. The Irish band The Answer and the Austin based band Scorpion Child are two fine bands that play old school 70's style hard rock while the German metal band Blind Guardian is a decent power metal band that's worth taking your chances on.

Similar to the majority of the anime community on other websites, not accepting of other people's opinions and very hostile towards those with different tastes. I'm a big metalhead, but found it best to just stay away from the metal community.

Love me some metal. The stuff I mostly listen to nowadays but not entirely. The metalheads I've met have been pretty cool people although that isn't many people at all. I'm not even sure if I count as a metalhead if we're talking appearance. I wear band shirts and have somewhat long hair but i would've had the long hair regardless of liking metal or not and I usually don't wear all black.

Well some metalheads are just insane people that uses metal as an excuse to be insane, I don't remember the band name but they where all about gore and being the ultimate people and everyone else is trash... so a bit of the stronger people survive even if we used weapons agianst you etc. its awfull, and the idiots that could kill over nothing.. just worthless at times wish those cind of metalheads and wish they knew the same "pain" as those they hate or a lot of anger.
But that does not mean every metalhead but it could be easy to be lost to the angry feelings as some bands discover from the areas they play at and how aggressive some people may tend to become.

Yeah as others said, long hair, beards pr goaties, tight jeans, druggie shirts, black clothing, pentagrams, goths, emo's, satan worship or intrests in the occult, tatoo's, piercings, etc.

Metal girls are hot though.

I'd much prefer to listen to metal than pop music or rnb or techno doof doof crap.
I like hanging in pubs that play metal way more than places with lame cover bands or some lame dj playing radio crap.
