I'm a metalhead, and I can confirm that I'm very violent, addicted to drugs, a member of various satanic cults, a fan of sacrificing babies to satan, addicted to headbanging, and that all of my clothes are black.

Also, all of the shit you just read is totally false, and you're probably severely retarded if you believed it.

I never liked Taylor Swift Songs. At first, she was too country, then she's descend into typical pop fanfare. She's better than before for me because I hate country, but she's definitely not my favorite artist. :/

I guess I'd call myself a metalhead. I started listening to metal back in the early '80s, when it was surging in popularity, and I still listen to a lot of it to this day, namely Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Black Sabbath, Ozzy Osbourne, Metallica, and countless others. I'm not too up on today's scene, but most or all of those groups are still going. So, while its not my only or even necessarily my favourite genre, it's a big part of my music listening experience.

As for the style, I did sometimes wear those shirts with the 3/4 length sleeves and band logos or iron-ons on the front, and had posters on my wall, but I never really banged my head, did the devil horn salute, held up a lighter at a concert, or sported long, stringy, mullet-y hair.

I love all the bands that you mentioned (Maiden is my favorite 80's metal band and their concerts are so much fun if you've ever been to one of them), plus AC/DC, Aerosmith, Kiss, Rush, Megadeth, Dio, The Scorpions, Van Halen, Motley Crue, Motorhead, and of course, Led Zeppelin. I'm a fan of 70's/80's hard rock/heavy metal, but this isn't the only genre I listen to. I'm pretty much a classic rock guy in general, plus I also like some blues. As for the new metal, well I never got into the Nu Metal scene, nor am I a fan of death/black metal (those Norwegian black metal bands are a scary lot) or grindcore. But there are some newer bands that still stick to the game. The Irish band The Answer and the Austin based band Scorpion Child are two fine bands that play old school 70's style hard rock while the German metal band Blind Guardian is a decent power metal band that's worth taking your chances on.

I like all of those too, and I'd also add Deep Purple and Thin Lizzy to the list. Iron Maiden are my favourite metal band by far...nobody else approaches their level of songwriting and performance, and, even 30+ years on, they're still cranking out great music. I'll also have to check out some of the newer bands you mentioned.

I realized that I technically didn't answer the OP's question, as to what I think of metal and metalheads? Metal itself is an endlessly fascinating and diverse form of music, and metalheads...well, I think of average people like myself.

Deep Purple was ahead of their time and Thin Lizzy is one of the most vastly underrated bands of any genre. And while its debatable if they where metal or just hard rock, I think Queen was one of the greatest bands of all time.

Even drone metal bands who love lengthy sustained notes in their songs?
Progressive metal bands with lengthy songs that are rather technical?
Avant-garde metal bands who randomly add in different genres of music at unexpected moments?
Or mathcore bands who combine random tempo changes with odd and unusual time signatures???

Mom liked metal, so when I was growing up 70's-early 90's metal had influenced my taste in music. Still prefer the old stuff, but I like the new stuff too. Also not confined to just metal, but again, prefer older rather than the newer.

Nobody who listens to metal uses the term "heavy metal." With that said, metal can be good and suck just like anything else. I think metalheads, like Beliebers, tend to drastically overrate the musicality of most metal bands. Being too into one thing is a great way to never broaden your horizons.

I don't really like metal. I've had lots of friends who are "metal heads" though, including a few people in a relatively popular local metal band.
