Far enough away from me that I cannot smell their breath or see up any of their nose or earholes.

If only you were an adorable girl....I'd let you be my imouto.

If only that were the case. Maybe some day a miracle will happen and I will be transformed, if I wish hard enough.

depends on how loud the place is. in any case, too much eye contact is unacceptable no matter the distance -grin- hahah.

I'd say arm's length, if you're getting to elbow length then it's getter really personal. On my first day at school in the UK as a teen a girl came to chat with me. Her nose was two inches away from my face and she was a total stranger I was shocked. In the Caribbean we give people especially acquaintances a lot of space. We'd complain if we thought people were "up under our armpit". It can sometimes get quite annoying waiting in line here when a person gets so close behind you that their breath is on your neck. I also avoid being on the Underground in rush hour or spending too much time in the city center because I don't like being squashed up like tinned sardines.

A long arm's length. I don't want to know what the other person ate for lunch per the smell coming out of their mouth.

Arms length is the golden rule. If someone is getting too close then my defenses and awareness is going to go up because Im just going to assume you want problems.

Yeah i have met a few peopel that get unusually close when they talk to you. It is indeed very awkward and unconfortable.

In some places, it's rude to talk from closer than a certain distance. In other's it's rude to talk further from a certain distance. In still others, it depends on whether you are indoors, or what your sex is, or your position in society. And there's probably more variables than that for places I don't know about.

It really depends on where you are, in a lot of instances. Or who you are, or what you are.

Hell, even here in America, where that shit doesn't really matter in most places, it's still quite rude to talk from room to room, yet it seems a lot of us converse that way, occasionally. X3
