Japanese voice actors are just better.
But then again I can also understand what they're saying so maybe I'm biased.

Generally I believe things are best watched in their native language, although there are some fantastic dubs out there. Also, since I don't speak Japanese I probably wouldn't be able to tell if the difference between good and bad voice acting with subs.

I usually just watch whatever version of anime I can find. That said, if I have a choice in either sub or dub, I would usually choose the sub version (because in many cases it's better in it's native language). On the other hand, there are some series where I actually prefer the English dub version such as DBZ, Yu Yu Hakusho, Ruroni Kenshin, Cowboy Bebop, Baccano, and several others. Then there's Hetalia in which I like the dub version and the sub version equally. But then there's other series that I strongly prefer it in Japanese with English subs. So, I guess it depends on the series.

I prefer subs for two reasons
1) I enjoy the voice acting more
2) It opens up more things for me to watch (don't have to wait for a show that might never get translated)
- Also, I love engrish moments (when Jap. actor needs to speak english); granted some of the bad english is probably on purpose.

Although I do have the capacity to enjoy dubs, as long as the voice actors fit the character (I often find that the voice doesn't match the personality)

Dubs usually mean the anime is getting released on DVD and/or Blu-ray so I love them. When it comes to hearing to one it depends though. Dubs usually take a long time to be released because it takes time to translate, record, edit, and get the paperwork ready. So usually by the time they are released I have already watched the subs version over ten times [i am not joking, i really like to re-watch things i like for some reason] so having the characters suddenly change voices feels weird... But I always try to listen to one episode dubbed when i buy a series, and if I first started seeing the series with Dubs, unless I listen to the sub version quickly it feels weird too.
Over all though I like dubs in general, but since they take too long to be released i mostly stick to subs.
I appreciate the effort both sides made though and would never go around saying one of them is horrible or anything similar to that.

Man, with how much this topic comes up, you'd think that this was a website for anime! Wait...

I generally prefer subs. I feel like the Japanese voice actors are a bit better and fit the characters more naturally. I will watch dubs, though, if that is the easier or only option.

So far I've found only one dub that is better than sub in my opinion. Ghost Stories. Mostly because the dub is like an abridged series than anything. I'm surprised it managed to get on TV anywhere considering how offensive the humor is. Hilarious either way.
