Hey! So for starters, I'm a dude dressing up as female Hatsune Miku, just to get things clear lol.

I didn't want to start a new topic on this but there's not many active cosplay threads it seems.

I have everything ready, but after scouring fanart, videos and websites I'm stuck at a conundrum

The shoes.

Currently I have big boots, I'm talking thigh high bad boys, like 68cm high or something.
My thinking was that her shoes are basically a second skin right up to her thighs, but I've starting looking at others' cosplays and they do it small shoes with thigh high socks!

Have I made a mistake? I've already bought them and everything...but I have a horrible knack for perfectionism and it'll bug me if it isn't right...

They're not bad boots or anything I'm just a little unsure of whether it's Miku enough or not lol...

First of all, good for you for not caring, and dressing as a female character!
I'm not a cosplayer, but I know every detail about Hatsune Miku.

I think normal boots would look more realistic (especially if they don't have heels). I don't see anything wrong with wearing thigh high socks with small shoes, but of course, an actual boot would look better, if done right. If the boots you have are loose at the opening, it won't look exactly like hers, if that's what you mean. Miku's boots are tight. I think socks are the closest you can get, in terms of fitting correctly.
Then again, you could just buy the cosplay boots.

Screw gender conformity!

No heels, in fact the boots I have are almost exact duplicates of the ones you have linked - just taller!

I guess if they're selling them like that though, then these will be alright for the costume then.

I don't know too much about Miku, heck I don't even listen to vocaloids lol I just think she is a really great character and design.
