Me being a fan of anime, it is unavoidable to which I come across one with fanservice. In my opinion I find fan service to be cringe worthy and making the overall experience unenjoyable, especially when I am trying to primarily focus on the story...........What are your thoughts? Do you prefer or neglect the use of fanservice?

If there's a tad bit of fan service here and there, then sure who cares I mean real life has sexy things too ya know. But if a girls boobs are bouncing around all over the place like every 2 seconds and there's constant pantyshots then I'm just like "lol nope" and I stop watching it.

I get a kick out of the tropey, running gag kind of fan service you might find in something like Monogatari. But it's certainly not even in my top ten list for what makes an anime something I want to watch.

I like seeing a bit, like the almost obligatory beach/pool/onsen episode, but it shouldn't be overdone. For example, I really enjoyed Nogizaka Haruka no Himitsu's first season, but the second season I thought had too much fan service.

I like fan service but only in moderation...the biggest problem with a lot of anime these days is that they go overboard with the amount of fanservice they have. Too much fanservice is not very appealing to me.

As long as the studio is smart with it, it's fine.

Pretty much this.
Occasional fan service is fine (and sometimes even fun), but giant bouncing boobs annoy me.
I've turned off anime that *might* have had a good plot just because giant bouncing boobs... :P

I don't mind if the story is good and there's still a certain degree of FS but then when you have some shit like prison school or High school of dead, that's when I drop anime and go to the next thing.

I, for one, think there needs to be more fanservice.

depends how it's done.

In moderation with the right timeing it can be funny, break tension and helps move character relationships in the right direction.

Overdone it swamps out everything good about a show as they throw out a well written and engaging manga story and replace it with nothing but panty shots.

It's like frosting on a cake. Use the right amount and you get an attractive treat.

Cover it from top to bottom and you get a goopy mess that you can't even stomach looking at

I'm pretty middle-ground in thinking that if its done moderately and not blatantly I don't mind it so much. Some of the more cliche versions of it do get tiresome quicker than others. I do have to say though that when every show has it (saturation point), then my patience for it grows less. I definitely think story holds precedence and any service should be kept as a background thing, instead of what some anime do which is service first and story second. Also it sure as hell should be kept out of certain issues (abuse, rape, etc), those should be treated with the respect and weight they deserve not be exploited.
