Here's an article a buddy of mine did about fan service!

What do you all think?

It was decent. I enjoyed he used illustrations from Saekano -How to Raise a Boring Girlfriend- where they actively used a trope then dissected it for comedic purposes (esp. true in the first episode). I just wish the illustrations were clickable for a large image. Not bad and I tend to agree with him. It's also a good thing I read the entire thread because I forgot I had already answered the OP. :)

Thanks for reading!!

Me being a fan of anime, it is unavoidable to which I come across one with fanservice. In my opinion I find fan service to be cringe worthy and making the overall experience unenjoyable, especially when I am trying to primarily focus on the story...........What are your thoughts? Do you prefer or neglect the use of fanservice?

For me if It's a film or one off anime then no to fan service, if It's an OAV then yes i think fan service is ok and finally if It's a series no to the first series but after that IE 2nd series and beyond then yes i find this expectable.

Do you guys and girls agree with me ?

The only times I can think of fanservice legitimately being annoying is in K Project. It's not really a good idea to distract the viewer during important moments of actual plot

Otherwise, It's a nice seasoning. Whether it's bare-chested guys or well-endowed women, it never really bothers me.

It's also okay if that's the main selling point. Like, don't go into To Love Ru, Highschool DxD, or Ikkitousen and expect not to see it in every scene.

I couldn't care less if it's there or not.

Too much just kills the experience, unless it is mostly about fan service.

I love fan service... Love it, but it also has to make at least some sense. I think Myriad Colors is doing it well this season.

I guess it depends on how it's done, like I really enjoy Monogatari, but a lot of other series make me cringe with it.

Same. It has to be a really good show for me to put up with it.

Some animes you watch for the plot. Others for the plot. If you catch my meaning.

It depends on the show and how it's done. Sometimes the fanservice is fine, and sometimes it just makes me want to watch something else. In general though, I do want more to any character than just fan service. At least make them fun to watch, and not annoying. That applies to shows as well. An interesting comedy or action series with a bit of fanservice is fine. However, it gets boring when the fanservice is the primary point of the show and there isn't anything else going on.
