Anime: SAO for SURE. I quit after the 13th episode. Couldn't do it.

Not sure for manga, I don't read enough.

Anime
White Album 2: Had me impressed for 3/4ths of it but was damaged in the last leg, then completely ruined by the last (13th) episode.
chaos;head: Sounded cool but didn't really live up to expectation.
Valkyrie Drive Mermaid: Expected a solid yuri story with some fan service (because its inevitable nowadays); instead so far its been 'girl on girl is hot' and fan service driven with little bits of story.

A lot of SAO hate. I personally don't get it. No, it is not nearly as amazing as many fans seem to think, as a story... but let us be real: The reason people love SAO, me included, is because the basic concept of that level of virtual reality is simply awesome. And we continue to watch it because of that premise, even when it has disappointed us a bit.

I think that the ridiculous amounts of hate for SAO is just as stupid as the ridiculous amount of love. It's a decent anime. By no means great, but definitely worth watching.

I will say that the second arcs of both seasons left some to be desired. I personally like the first arcs of both. What the second season first arc lacked in storyline it made up for in badass lightsaber bullet deflection. Some disagree.

In the end, I don't get the intense hate or love for SAO.

Animes that have disappointed me:

Jojo's Bizarre Adventure- I don't believe I have ever been MORE disappointed. I loved Hamon. The concept was awesome, and it worked well for fight scenes, too.
I was even getting used to the whole family line rather than one main character, too.
Yeah, it was bizarre... but really lovable and cool.
THEN, suddenly they switched to stands. I don't think I can fully express how fucking stupid I thought stands were. The show went from bizarre and cool to plain dumb... like Power Rangers dumb... really fast.

Rokka -Braves of the Six Flowers- I don't want to watch 12 episodes of Clue, just for you to reset the board on the last episode. I thought after the first season we might be able to move on. Don't get me wrong, I like the concept of having one person in the group who is a baddy, but not knowing who it is. That's neat. Just seems like that's the writer's only trick. Yawn. Guess I will have to find something else to watch.

Dragonball GT - Okay, so... I should have known better. I spent years trying to get my hands on GT, back when it wasn't easy to do, in the States. I just thought, hmm... maybe... just maybe... it would change into something better than Dragonball Z. Hell, the equivalent would have been ok, even though I had pretty much grown out of DBZ. Instead... instead I was given Goku as a kid, when I could already barely tolerate him as an adult, at that point. Not to mention, they pushed my favorite character pretty much out of the fighting scene altogether.

Death Note - The ONLY thing I felt was disappointing about Death Note was they let the anime turn stupid before they killed off Light. I mean, if you're going to kill him anyway, do it before the anime goes from awesome to crap. If they would have killed Light right after L died, I would have been satisfied.

Manga that has disappointed me:

Historys Strongest Disciple Kenichi - I am only currently disappointed about Kenichi because there is still no promise of future stories, and I just never grew tired of reading about the guy. It ended ok-ish, albeit rushed... but I really just want a story or two, even if they are small, about Kenichi after he becomes a master... or even before, if the series got picked up again. :D

Generally speaking, if you are disappointed, you expected too much. *shrug*

How about novels based on manga? I love the Chibi Vampire novels, but book eight ends on a cliff hanger and nine weas never published for some reason. I tried to find out what happened, but the best my interenet searches resulted in was finding out that nine had an ISBN number assigned to it, which just leaves even more mystery. I won't hold it against the rest of the series, but I am sad about not being able to read the conclusion.

I'm not much of a manga reader so no manga but anime that let me down. Well lets start with my 2 least favorite shows Photo Kano and Diabolik Lovers. Photo Kano is really just about a guy taking pictures of girls and going out with them all and it made no sense how things worked out the way they did until the bullcrap excuse at the end. I was hoping for something somewhat creepy with Diabolik Lovers but instead it was just a pushover girl being pushed around by hot boys that want her blood. Fuck Bitch-chan.

Some anime that have let me down...

SAO - So you start out with a good story, almost likable main character, and fun setting. Then you decide to cut it short just when it is getting really good, abruptly and unsatisfyingly end the story you're going with, and go off and do something annoying.

Magical Warfare - I don't know what kind of expectations I had to have for this but the name Magical Warfare and the first episode set up something that could be good. But then instead it just decided to dink around doing jack and squat until a red dragon made it get up and do something...whereupon it went back to jack before just getting bored and ending in the middle of the final battle.

Bleach Filler - Well any shonen filler in general brings me down. We're not going anywhere, we're not learning anything, we're just spinning our wheels in the mud.

Is The Order a Rabbit - Not enough rabbits. I came for a bunny cafe, not an unfunny Seinfeld spoof.

Neon Genesis Evangelion - I heard it was an amazing anime. Everyone said I had to watch it. At first I laughed at Shinji, but then it turned out it was the main character. And we were following it. Following it on a nonsensical drug trip. At least the anime congratulated me at the end for sticking it through until the end, but it was a bit late for fourth wall breaking humor.

and let's not forget the unlimited fillers to come in the anime horray! :D

Fillers ruined it for me. I just stopped caring to watch it.

The animes that have let me down:

11 eyes: had a good start and then went down hill afterwards.

Magical Warfare: had an interesting concept, then flat lined. Hard

Valvrave: Well, it was all right-ish. The second half was much better than the 1st.

The current season of Gintama is a let down.

I've enjoyed this series in the past; I'm not sure if it's me... or if this particular season is just dull.

Fairy Tail for me.

That manga has let me down too many times, and I'm only still reading it since I've been reading it for so long.

I will never understand complaints about filler. Everyone's like "It's pointless and it isn't progressing the plot nor does it have to do anything with it and they're all bad!" Well if that's the case, then why don't you just skip the filler...
