Hello everyone. The new tales game is out and it's amazing.

This is only my second Tales game but Zestiria is a great addition to the series. I'm only on the first chapter and it's a little slow right now but it's dangerous funny. I haven't not laughed at a scene but Edna and meebo, , so but the best so far is the infi-loop. "Edna, don't infi-loop the Squire" lol

If you haven't had the chance to grab this game, do so now its worth it.

To the rest of the Tales fans out there, enjoy

But yeah. he pretty much said that i have to check out this new one.

Debating on PS4 or PS3 import or PC, not sure how much the PC hype is really true...Also tilting towards playing native JP version after playing a few Tales imported, I know it has dual audio but mmhm.

I can give or take the Tales series but damn if this one doesn't have an awesome intro. Shame they stripped the lyrics from the English version though.

Also a shame that it costs farking $25 more on consoles than on PC as I much perfer playing this sort of game on a console.

I'm holding off on playing until the audio driver crash is patched since I'd rather not play the game using speaker audio.

I'm playing it on PS3!

I don't think I'm good reference for recommendation... I really like the series, I haven't played all of them but all that I have played I like them.
I think the series have entries that goes from decent to strong, I don't think there's one that is bad... Well that's maybe just me because I really like the game play.

Update! Tales of Zestiria patch 1.2 added a check for intro which prevents it from playing if it detects it has been switched (the old one will still play in-game, just not on Title screen). Details below fixed to remedy this...

The Western release replaced the lyrics with a guitar version in the OP intro.

However, for the Steam version on PC, that's relatively easy to remedy if you rather enjoy the lyrics...;

-Find this file on the interwebs; New_AM_TOZ_OP_001.bk2 (md5 checksum: 14DBF4F72667E8865B53878C193D419E)

-Go to the Zestiria game directory, to folder RAW/MOVIE and drop the above file there.

-Find AM_TOZ_OP_001.bk2 in there and rename it(doesn't matter to what).
(I renamed it, created an empty folder and dropped it there)

Then rename New_AM_TOZ_OP_001.bk2 to AM_TOZ_OP_001.bk2.

Now, once you hit the intro sequence, it should play the Japanese version with lyrics included (Both on Title and in-game, even on Zestiria patched to 1.2).

That's really cool and makes me wonder why they didn't remove those files... It's like it was a last minute decision so they didn't review it...

And by the way, does someone knows why they removed the lyrics?

I've read 2 rumors:

-Copyrights problems outside Japan. I think this one is not truth... Why? Because they just removed the lyrics and a copyright holds both lyrics and melody and the guitar is playing the same melody as the vocals of the original so this brings me to the other rumor that for me seems to be more true...

-The lyrics saying "I wanna be white white now"... They thought it could sound racist a give problems on the USA, it's a shame that still on this year there're some racist problems.

But I don't know really what happened, does someone knows? I'll go for the second one... The melody is the same and copyright should give rights over it, even without lyrics.

Actually, I downloaded the Zestiria files from Steam a couple of days ago, and once installed, AM_TOZ_OP_001_JPN.bk2 wasn't in the mentioned directory. Yet we do know some people who first downloaded Zestiria on Steam did receive that file.

Most likely Zestiria was updated to omit that file some time after launch, as it probably wasn't supposed to be included in the first place. Not sure if this affects those users who did get the file but didn't make a backup of it in time?

In my post above I make a distinction between NA and European versions, but are those the same? This is on PC and Steam after all.

I don't know if those are the same, I guess that they are...

I have been playing on the PC. Something I have noticed with the settings completely maxed out that the eye's have artifacts around them when in motion. It almost looks as if it was a similar effect to a bad photo shop. I haven't spent much time completely nit picking out the settings however. I am just enjoying the PC experience with a console controller.

I haven't noticed any real definitive lag with normal setting but it runs a bit slow on my laptop, that's about three years old, if I try to max setting but it still plays very well.

I agree, the controller helps a lot, and using the keyboard gets annoying when trying to chain mutant monsters that are like 20 levels higher than you. I rage quited a few times
