Illegal: Yes
Immoral: not so sure.

If I'm paying for a subscription, should my physical location matter?
(And the OP is paying for the content.)

It's not illegal in any way to use a VPN to bypass region restrictions. Licens owners just don't like it and it's against the terms of service. The onöy action CR can take against anyone doing this is simply by banning them from the service

I don't know why you'd ask if it's illegal. If you're paying CR the money for premium then you should be able to access everything that any premium user can, in my opinion.
Obviously it's illegal, but you should keep quiet about it. Posting this in CR's forum sounds like you're asking to be banned, lol.

I feel like a fan is going to be a fan no matter what. If you are paying CR subscription but are penalized because of your location it kinda sucks. The NFL does same policy if they don't sell out a home game its BS so then- ticket cable has the rights only even if you live in area and its your team. Again a anime fan will spend money in a number of ways so I have mixed feelings on this issue

I hear ya! I'm glad I get to watch the NFL on Sky over here then, they get a lot of the games. The anime license thing can be ridiculous though, has to change at some point.

Maybe I don't know how licensing works but I'm pretty sure that CR could still technically get those titles in the rest of Europe. I simply can't believe that there could be a local company in every country that CR ignored with those titles. The reason for the lack of availability must be something else. Or is Europe just not worth it after the bigger countries are out?

EDIT: since this went a little off-topic I'm just going to add that I don't think there's any legal or moral problems with bypassing regional restrictions. Breaking the ToS can get you banned though.

It's actually quite simple, the larger European licensors license anime for a large area, not just the country they're founded in.
Some of them cover Europe from Portugal to Germany and every country between that, I am not sure if they cover Scandinavia or if there's another company covering that area.
Unfortunately once a company acquires a license of an anime for a specific area they can do a lot of things with the license, this includes doing absolutely nothing with it until it expires!

Yet, when they have this license, all it takes from them is a firm "no" to block CR and any other legitimate streaming service to ever broadcast it in the area this company licensed the title for.
If CR or another streaming service then still decides to make it available they risk not only losing the license entirely but also the likelyhood of ever acquiring another license from at least the studio of which they violated the contract.

Now then, as a Norwegian how am I supposed to watch No Game No Life legal for example?
You can't just search up "No Game No Life Norwegian" and find the correct streaming site for it.
It basically forces you to steal content from the anime creators, since it is nearly impossible to find the streaming site which streams the specific anime show in your region.

Edit: Would be helpful if the license restriction message actually told you which streaming sites has the licenses, but that would advertise for other streaming sites...

Edit Edit: Well you could always buy Blu-Rays, but they are usually insanely expensive

Just going to wing it here....

I would say that if anyone is guilty of committing theft, it would be those charging you for services you are not getting. :/

It is against ToS, but I would not say immoral to the point of a sin.

Actually; No Game No Life is available in UK at reasonable prices. If you want the CE though; well I've paid a little over 100€ incl. Taxes T_T

But even disc-releases aren't always an option > region-lock..
