It does not change anything.

Just stating that it was inevitable.

Ah, now I understand.

I'm just hoping some of my bigger worries don't end up occurring. We all know how PC America is trying to be right now. Anime doesn't need any of that.

I'm hoping it's more like what happened with Big O. Where it was really popular in the west but not really in Japan. So Adult Swim helped with making season 2.
Imagine if that happenes with something like Rokka that floppes on Japan but seems popular here.

As for being PC, that has never affected animation aimed at adults in the US. If anything, stuff like Archer and Family Guy strive to be not PC as possible. As long as cr realizes that it's audience is adults, it should be fine.

That's great. I love animated shows of any origin and think it's a shame they don't get produced with the same frequency in the West, as I've grown tired of the familiar tropes of anime, and getting all of the cultural references can be tricky too.

If we look at shows like Game of Thrones, western television actually has way more sexual content than most anime that air on TV (so no hentai)

Also, the reason why a Trigun movie was produced in spite of the series being a flop in Japan is because the series was very well received in America.

Just now, I was reading an article about why western influenced anime aren't too successful, if they get made at all. It's because most people in the industry aren't American, have never lived in America and don't even speak english. Whatever they know about western culture is from the movies and clearly that won't tell them a thing about the subtleties of our daily life and doesn't even scratch the surface of the cultural baggage.

Collaborating with people outside of their country only means we'll get more variety. It honestly baffles me that some think it's worrying.

Japanese TV is far more tame than American TV.

ABOUT FUCKING TIME!

This is fantastic news and CR gained 300,000 more subscribers in less than a year. That is insane.

I'm really happy for CR, this is a huge accomplishment. Now we can actually have more of a say in what is made, western fans should be rejoicing. More variety is a great thing, I've been calling for a move like this for a while. This is great seeing one of my dreams come true.

Doubled in less than a year....that's some serious marketing they've done. The future of legal streaming is here and now!

I just wished Crunchyroll would focus more on using the largest amount they can from our money to support the producers instead of spending it on things like cams in conventions and youtube styled anime merchendise showcases

I hope the studios end up getting a lot of money because they really do deserve it

Oh, I don't think CrunchyRoll itself is going to be a problem. I was speaking specifically about the West having a say in anime with all those SJWs running around screaming at everything. They're already all over gaming and comic books, so who knows what they'd try to go after next.

I wouldn't say it's a legitimate concern at this point, since literally nothing has happened and we really don't have any specifics at all, but you never can tell what will happen, especially with nutcases. I just want my loli and incest to be safe.

My only fear is CR trying to fund something that is a bit too different. I think CR's higher ups are smart so they'll probably try to fund something that will cater to core western anime fans and not the general western mainstream (outside of anime fans). That'd be too risky.

Keep it simple at first and make small steps. Like Funi co-producing Dimension W is a smart move since it seems like something western anime fans can get on board with.

If I were CR, I'd try to fund another of a season of well loved show in the west. Seems like a safe first decision.

Also in general I just hope more studios get awarded with this partnership, they deserve the money!
