probably 90% of the people who watch anime pirate it.

yeah thats why its now made in South Korea and why series only go for like 12 episodes now..(not all but yeah).

Except the US and rest of the world outside of Japan aren't the primary market. Hell, they probably wouldn't even qualify as a "secondary" market if you ask me.

It's about japan, japanese advertisers, and japanese DVD sales.

I do it all the time, whether it be for anime, music, video games, heck I even pirated a few books. Granted if I could get it legally and I could afford it I would buy it. Well 90% of the time at least.

I would like to say I would never watch a show that was in violation of copyright laws, but that was how I got into anime. A year or two ago, I was on youtube, and I randomly saw an animated thumbnail on the sidebar. I clicked on it, and that's where it all started. Now, though, I try to stick to legal sites like crunchyroll and funimation. The only exceptions are OVAs where the series is on this site, but the OVA is not.

Only if it's absolutely not available anywhere else. Movies, OVAs, and certain shows that just aren't available legally without actually managing to find and buy a DVD for them? As a poor university student, I'll pirate. However, if it's on any legal site, I won't. Hopefully in the future I'll be able to afford to get DVD copies of the series I love.

Nope. I'll either buy or stream legally. One odd example is that I watched an anime on YouTube recently that wasn't anywhere else, and, while it wasn't uploaded by the copyright holders, YouTube has connected it to them, so the ad revenue goes there (hence why it's not taken down).

I won't let my desire to watch something outweigh that which is ethical. Creators deserve compensation. I do agree that copyright holders should make sure people can buy their stuff, of course, but that's not on us, though we should encourage it.

One of my morals is to never lie on a pinkie promise, no matter what! And as of today I have never broken that moral code!

Funny, I have premium on CR but I haven't watched any anime here for months and don't plan on doing so either. Everytime I watch anime here the video ends up buffering after 1-10 minutes into the episode and it doesn't stop unless I refresh the page. Then sometimes it happens again.

I'm not computer smurt so idk what to call it but the video format on CR doesn't work with me, the whole streaming thing. HTML5 ftw

Same.

For me, it's more a question of restrictions(regions, delays) and convenience, rather than streaming issues. I did however have some buffering issues, the few times I tried CR's streaming in the past.

Though, considering the 'source' of a lot of the 'tangibles' out there, it's only fair for me to continue my subscription here I think ... Not that it would ultimately matter that much, between my figures, art books, various other merchandise, and the occasional JP edition blurays, my sub here is probably just a drop in the ocean in the grand scheme of things...
