So a LOT of people in todays society don't like their own bodies and make modifications to them.

I personally think body modification is unnecessary due to the risk of a operation failing and making things worse. In addition to this I feel there should be more education regarding the subject of ads since a lot of ads show the "perfect body" that no one can possibly have. And people want to become and campare themselves with ads witch I think is bad.

Then there's always people who modify themselves to look like this... http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/howaboutthat/11935421/Whos-a-pretty-boy-then-Man-cuts-off-his-ears-to-look-like-a-parrot.html

So what do the CR community think about body modifications...?

I don't believe in forcing it on babies like some people do. With adults I don't really care though. They can make their own choices.

I think body modification is a great idea. I'm going to get myself a tail once I save up the money.

Meh, whatever they want to do.

I think more people should have a mental evaluation done first though. Just to assure they're sound before doing something potentially permanent.

i think there should be something like the Implicit Association Test on the table. i doubt everyone who undergoes body modification ends up happy in their new bod. no offence, there's nothing special about the next thing you think you should be on.

I really do dislike my appearance, but I wont go ahead and change it. If people don't like the way I look, then they can go Fuck themselves!

I also don't like when other people has changed how they look just because they want more attention. Me? I like personality over looks.
People shouldn't worry too much.

Meh it's their body let them do whatever they want with it. However do not allow computers to access the brain, that will cause SO many problems.

Robot eyes that can see into wider bands of the spectrum.
More sensitive electronic ears.
Shoulder laser.
Mechanical innards that are more powerful than our present organs.
Nanites in my bloodstream that combat infections and heal tissues, both natural and artificial, more rapidly.
Metal reinforced bones.

I'm all for those.

Turning yourself into a parrot, boob jobs, and even basic tattoos and piercings...not for me.

The only body modification I believe in is building a healthy lifestyle. It's simple. Work out 3-5 times a week, get your 8 hours of sleep, eat healthy foods and spend some time outside.

If I would ever get body modifications apart from being able to be "superhuman", I would definitely want a tail.

Haha, this guy is bloody dedicated didn't realise you could get your eyeballs tattooed! I like that he gave his ears to a friend who would "appreciate them". Fair play, if you're slightly crazy and want to see yourself as a parrot then go for it no point in doing things half arsed. I don't understand it myself but if you want to modify your body, why not?

Can't argue with that... having a healthy lifestyle is indeed great, but that's not really body modification tho. And some people don't just want to look good, they want to be perfect and that's something very hard to accomplish with just training, since if you for example don't like your face, nose, eyes, ears and etc then it won't suddenly look the way you want it to look by just hitting the gym

I say do whatever makes you happy and screw the naysayers, it's your body. As long as it's not being forced on someone, I say do whatever.
