Has anyone ever abandon an account of theirs and found it years later?
Posted 10/26/15
Today I found an old Facebook account of mine I used to use back when I had my Crunchyroll username Tinamarie101 in 2010. Brings back lots of memories! I managed to hack it within 40 minutes of knowing none of the information to log-in. Lucky guess on the email i guess! ^.^ But have to wait 24 hrs to get in it!!! So in the spare time I was wondering if anyone else dealt with this before and if so what'd you find on it?

Never really had this issue.

I've been using the same e-mail account since 98. If I try to sign up for a site I already have an account on, I usually get told, "e-mail account already in use." and have my username/password resent.

Yes. This account. I had ignored and forgotten about this account for several years, before settling back in at the end of 2012. Also, my old elfwood account. The site is all but dead now, so I don't intend on being active again.

I've been using the same Hotmail account since before they were bought out by Microsoft.

Yahoo first launched their free web email service in 1997... There were others before that, like Deja News, which Google assimilated, and Hotmail, which was assimilated by Microsoft. But the compelling logical purpose at the time for signing up for webmail, such as Yahoo, was for having an email account that you didn't have to switch every time you changed jobs, or ISPs, or whatever. It seems to have endured, somehow.

Same here, I remember the original 2MB of storage seeming like all you'd ever need. Trouble is my Hotmail account's gotten so old it's on too many spam lists to use for anything but account registration type deals. I have much more private gmail accounts that I use for actual correspondence. Plus my work email for.. well.. work.

Yeah, i had a feeling you'd have been using hotmail all along but, it's still impressive. I bet you're the type to have worked for one company over many years. [sorry if very wrong]

That's all I use my Hotmail account for these days.

The spam is beyond imagining, and my username is from a d&d campaign.

I've worked many different jobs in many industries. Everything from aviation electronics, to computer programming, to roofing and dishwasher. Having a stable e-mail account for people to reach me over the years was important.

I settled down a few years ago into a retirement-type job with the federal government, the plan is for my current job to last the next 20 years or so.

Never had this issue. I always delete the information and close accounts when I'm done with them. Then again, unlike the kiddos these days I don't use all these millions of apps and sign up for all this social media bs. I have my email, CR and a few necessary things like banking but that's it.

Nah. I usually only ever make one profile, and I cycle between two emails. Though for me, it's a bit frightening that everything is so closely linked, so I change passwords regularly.

Dang since 98? thats insane! I mean for the longest time i stuck with just one too but keep having to change all my accounts and emails for safety reasons and ended up forgetting to delete a couple of things along the way i guess.
