It depends on the situation. If the police aren't doing their job then vigilantism would be acceptable as crimes are being overlooked. However, in this particular scenario, I think it's an unnecessary risk, at least for men without actual training. If they want to help, join established organizations or agencies with oversight and accountability rather than going at it alone.

Vigilantism isn't a good thing.

I feel like there's too many people out there doing things that are essentially mob justice (now renamed "social justice") while sweeping a LOT of laws under the carpet and completely disregarding the rights of the accused, as well as sometimes the victim.

As for considering it "raising awareness", you do that by handing out pamphlets. (and it's utterly useless anyhow). Just abide by the laws and worry about yourself for the most part. >.<

Good intentions often lead to bad ideas. Consider this a case in point. . .

When I was in middle school, my friend became buddies with this guy on myspace and meet up in real life to hang out. It wasn't until I found out the guy was in his freaking twenties. I don't want to make him seem like a bad guy but a 20 something year old hanging out with a couple of 12 year olds? Yeahhhhh I got out of there quick.

My friends stayed. It was SOOOOOO fucking ridiculous because one of them said "remember to pick up the phone when i call, this guy is stronger than me if he does anything I won't be able to defend myself" and I'm just like if you're so scare come home WITH ME

I don't mind as long as the police do the sting operations. I don't believe for a second that all pedophiles are crimes waiting to happen, but I believe people who would commit such a crime in the first place by knowingly going to these houses under the intention of illicit illegal teenage booty sex are predators waiting to happen (usually). It strikes me as a cross between opportunistic and predatory, although I do not call such a crime a purely opportunistic in nature.

I'm not a fan of mob justice.
