As long as it's through Visa or Mastercard, or equivilient, then yes, you can. I use a Visa debit card, and I can do whatever I want online with it.

It'll fail if you don't have enough money, or if it's a card that isn't supported. What card do you have? what company/bank are you with?

in times like this iv seen mods say a few things that will fix this issue

#1. please submit a support ticket under billing. And the billing team will try and help you
#2 You may need to contact your bank to fix the problem

Please don't. (•́︿•̀)

Your liability with a debit card can be much greater than a credit card if an intruder gets into your account - not to mention that even if you can get refunds, get the overdrafts and damage to your credit undone, and beg forgiveness from other billers (from what I hear, NOT fun), you run the risk of trying to live off of an empty bank account until it all gets straightened out.

(The link broke the quote for some reason, so I removed it).

Some people don't have a choice.

If possible, I would recommend using PayPal for CR, as even if the account here were compromised, the same person would also have to compromise the PayPal account to pay for anything.

Another way to limit the possibility of any problems would be to open a second (preferably free) checking account from a person pays their bills with, and use that debit card for online activity.

I know what you speak of about the time to get things straightened out, however. I check my account daily, and one day found it was almost wiped out my many purchases from Facebook (which I don't have an account with). It turned out to be Facebook credits (apparently to be used to buy ads). As I recall, it took a day or two to get the money returned to my account. Fortunately, it just happened to occur when I had nothing due to be withdrawn.
