School days is definetely "NOT" the worst. It is so much better than a lot of the other crap out there. It's one of a kind. Now if you want to know the worst anime i have seen, that will be Glasslip (thirteen episodes of borefest).

As I've repeatedly said I was going off of reviews one of which said buying a gun and shooting yourself with it would be more productive

For me, the worst has to be, "Sakura Diaries"...or "Sakura Tsuushin"...oh, and High School of the Dead. Absolutely hated those 2. Rape Love and Physics Defying Boobs are just bad for anime.

School Days is horrible. But not the worst. I have seen clips from from worse anime; stuff that was poorly imported in the 90's.

Also, Inuyasha. School Days at least is mercifully short compared to Inuyasha which keeps going. And going. And going. And going.

I don't get the internet. If you say something negative about something, people flock and say "o-oh this anime isn't that bad, your just to stupid to understand the deeper meanings." You say something positive about anime, you get swarmed with "lol that anime was shit ur shit u prolly dont even watch anime."

Sounds like you're lurking in the slums of the internet.

Seriously, though, that's not entirely the case, and probably only ever really happens with very popular anime... or in this case, just very well known anime. The problem with School Days is that everyone has made so big a deal out of how bad it is, that anyone who now goes into it would already have very strong preconceived notions about the anime, and would be likely to just join the masses in calling it bullshit. And considering how this anime is pretty much known for being hated, of course arseholes in the dregs of the internet will shit on people who like it.

I find it ironic that some of the parts that drew such big reactions out of people, were also the parts with the biggest complaints; like Makoto becoming a pure arsehole, most of the girls being downright atrocious, and the good ol' ending, that I personally found extremely satisfying... except for what that crazy bitch did to the best girl of that harem of crap... So, again, I find it ironic that the biggest complaints are how pissed off and annoyed people felt with some of these parts... Reactions that the writers likely intended to invoke in the audience.

It's sure as hell not an atrocious anime, but neither is it exactly a masterpiece. For what I feel like it intended to accomplish, I'd consider it a pretty decent anime. But hey, people don't like feeling pissed off and annoyed, so the hate it gets is understandable. Unfortunate, but understandable.

School days was garbage I like anime where you can somewhat relate with the characters especially the main protagonist and I just can't relate with a main character who cheats on woman like there toys and acts like why is everyone so mean to me kind of attitude the ending was trash Imo.

Overall everyone has different taste in anime for me I love to have romance in the anime in watch and horror with a happy ending just like dusk maiden of amnesia but people who like school days usually think the ending or everything about the main Mc is funny or he's an asshole.
I didn't like makoto he makes guys look bad especially the 12 girls he screwed around with they felt sorry for sekai and yet didn't stop screwing her guy if the anime wants to show you the darkness Ppl in real life can do then it is good.

One cool thing is though at the end of the series you will always know what a purse is.

It really depends on your definition of bad.

If you mean bad in production qualitiy : voice acting, animation, story structure...etc then by far it is not the worst. It's not even really bad.

If you mean bad in terms of morality behind the characters, then yes it is really bad, but it's probably not the worst. I still think there is room for more deplorable behavior and that probably some animes have capitalized on that opportunity, none come to mind however.

I find it pretty funny that a story that evokes a negative strong emotional response from people is considered bad. To me that just means that the story was unpleasant, not suited to my views of the world. If on the other hand the story was difficult to follow, the animation was lazy, the writing was cliche and repetitive... That would be pretty objectively bad.

I think it's more of a morality tale than a deep psychological anime. Kotonoha merely played her role without any introspection or whatnot on her part or anyone else's. She was merely a means to an end character to bring about the happy boat anime, and I find this unacceptable in a supposedly psychological anime. We could easily surmise why Makoto acts the way he does, albeit crudely and on "generic" reasoning, but what about Sekai's need for the warmth of her lover? Why does she even stay with Makoto? Why doesn't Makoto break it off with Kotonoha and instead drag it on like a moron?
