I was wondering how this new deal affects advertisers. Like how does it affect CR because I know I've seen then advertise on YouTube. Just posing the question out there....

I can't listen to my favorite anime songs now. Every time I find one that I'd like to listen to, I'm hit by the "can't watch in your country" bs.

Youtube Red is basically trying to be Netflix-kinda where you can watch exclusive videos/shows for $9.99 a month. However since some companies haven't got back with google/declined to be part of Youtube Red, some of the videos containing their content are blocked in the US. Unfortunately this includes a lot of anime music and videos

This. You have no idea how frustrating this is. Almost 1/4 of the content in my playlists has been blocked since it's inception, but it doesn't seem to be exclusively Asian companies that have objections. Here are a few articles:

http://techcrunch.com/2015/10/21/an-offer-creators-cant-refuse/#.cyf1sf:vCdm

Now, say you really, really like Pewdiepie. He's signed onto youtube red. This means that aside from being ad-free, he will be creating exclusive content for red subscribers.

If it was simply a subscription based service where we get extra content and no ads for a small price per month, that would be completely acceptable. However, if you cross reference, almost every article states that partners who refuse to sign up for youtube red will have their videos country locked. I tested this yesterday, and a friend who lives in England can still view some of the videos I can't.

Even with Maker’s help, however, there are as yet unexplained problems. Destructoid, for instance, reported this morning that certain videos are being blocked in the US thanks to YouTube Red, something Google neglected to warn us about beforehand.

A number of gameplay videos, notably from Japanese publishers, are being blocked. Such games include Attack on Titan, Hatsune Miku: Project Mirai 2, and BlazBlue: Chrono Phantasma. YouTube has since announced that, while an “overwhelming majority” of companies have agreed to the terms of YouTube Red, some haven’t, and those videos are being made unwatchable until such time as the corporations in question sign up.

So, which companies aren’t on board? What games will be unwatchable by a massive percentage of the gaming media’s audience? What games will simply be a waste of precious time for a YouTuber to cover?

We don’t know.

I remember Youtube's old slogan, "Everything by everyone". It's becoming more like "Everything by everyone, as long as you cough up the dough. Nice vase, be a shame if somebody were to...Yano...*pokes with baseball bat*"

Everyone needs to calm the fuck down about youtube red, it won't change much and it probably will fail since it expects people to pay for something that has been free forever

Youtube red is a new subscription service for youtube where you can pay to get a spotify like music service inside youtube, in addition to allowing a subscriber to not see a single add. But that's not all, it'll also have some exclusive content from pewdiepie.... In all honesty the exclusive content is piss poor on youtube red
