When I was in Japan four years ago in December, the school girls appeared to wear conservative uniform skirts. However, when I was at the train station there were any number of girls in their early twenties that were wearing things like hot pants and short skirts in forty degree weather. The women in our group kept wondering about them since they themselves were all bundled up.

I don't think so. They have a bunch of fun quirky beliefs.

Like how if you sleep under a kotatsu, you'll catch a cold. I sleep under mine all the time and I rarely get sick.

They are packed tighter than tuna of course they get sick more because sicknesses can spread so easily.

Probably not. Usually when someone gets sick in anime or manga, it means two characters get to have a "moment"

It's a well known fact that Japanese rhinoviruses have an incubation time of 30 minutes and cause high fevers within forty-five seconds of onset.
Further, Japanese rain has been confirmed to contain billions of these fast rhinoviruses per cubic millimeter. That's some basic epidemiology shit.

C'mon guys, this is an anime forum and you didn't know this? Crunchy, I'm disappointed.

It depends on which pathogen caused the cold. Adenoviridae are a common cause of colds and can circulate in droplets of mucus or saliva in the air, as well as coat surfaces. They can survive outside the body for hours or even days under the right conditions. The likelihood of infection increases with increasing quantities of ingested and inhaled virus particles, so even when dealing with airborne pathogens, it is still important to wash your hands.

For reals. It seems that getting even slightly wet or being outside for more than five seconds can cause someone to get a fever in anime. It's pretty annoying.

OP is using anime as an example??...

A study I read sighted guys get more sick and have longer cold than girls because of testosterone... so next time if a guy appears to be on his death bed because of a cold he might actually be feeling that sick.

I catch a cold easily when ever I get stuck in the rail, does that make it weird?

The Japanese catch cold by being a very unsanitary people. They don't shake hands but they live under such ghetto conditions. A little fucking hand sanitizer wouldn't kill them.
