I need to remove paypal as the recurring payment method on my account, but there is no option to do so.

It's not possible to switch from to/from Paypal as the payment source without deactivating the premium subscription and letting it expire. Once it expires you can sign up again with another payment method.

Keep in mind that you can also deauthorize PayPal payments from their end:
https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_manage-paylist

Even if you are successful in disabling automatic payments from the vendor's side, I would advise checking this list to verify PayPal recognizes the action. If for some reason you can't do so from the vendor's side, you can do so from there.

I guess I was hoping that someone that works for the site would see this and help me get it taken care of. I didn't really want to have to jump through any hoops. I am, after all, trying to continue to give CR my money, and thought they might help facilitate that. If I cancel my membership, I may not even bother resubbing, and just switch to Hulu+ instead.

Well, I've explained how to do it. We cannot change means of payment on the administrative side of things, as such action requires manual authorization by the users.

Sorry to hear it, but you have to give up the mistaken impression that they give a flying rat's behind if you don't like their mandate: "You have to keep a usable card active until the subscription you've already paid for in full, even if it was a year ago, expires. Sure, this makes you vulnerable to an intruder (which we've had a disturbing rash of, but we've decided it's not our problem) using the card you only ever intended for a subscription in the CR store, but that's not our problem either."

I don't see any hoops to jump through. Simply disable your renewal, and when the subscription expires, resub using a credit card.

As noted, even if the "Cancel renewal" option is broken on CR's end, you can still do it at PayPal.

How is how they handle credit cards relevant to PayPal? Even if someone gained access to the CR account, they would still need one's PayPal password (and e-mail, if different than the one used for CR) to pay for anything. If they had that info, the person has far bigger problems independent of CR.

The hoop is having to to cancel my subscription, and then resub in several weeks instead of just being able to take care of it when it's convenient for me. I've already deauthorized on paypal. I simply want to be able to remove paypal as my current payment option without having to cancel my subscription. Apparently that's not possible, which I think is kind of a load of shit.

Thank you for the catch. I switched gears and mistakenly took a cue from shinryou's statement "It's not possible to switch from to/from Paypal as the payment source without deactivating the premium subscription and letting it expire." Thus, I thought it would be relevant to let ogrepyle know about shinryou's previous statement that you aren't allowed to take a card off to use PayPal.

The info in the post may still be relevant, though. If the reason ogrepyle wants to remove PayPal as the source is to avoid being fraudulently charged, then indeed you would be right that AFAIK the current payment method is secure and shouldn't need changing. But if this is the case, ogrepyle would be well-advised to know that giving CR card info instead would be a bad case of "out of the frying pan, into the fire."
