What do you guys think of using caffeine as a recreational drug.

Its useful has good effects (some bad) and unlikely to OD on.

Tried 400mg today for a caffeine high and it was amazing curious what others thing and if they use it for recreational purposes.

Also curious do you think it's bad to use it like that for your health in the long run? (i use it sparingly.)

Don't know how much of an effect coffee really has. Have gone long periods without coffee(like camping), other times have had perhaps 4 pots or more per day(like when there's nothing else to do like on holiday and playing games/watching something at home...). Prefer to drink at least a few cups of coffee or more before bed, but that's more a habit to wind down at the end of a day...

I like the taste of coffee. Most Finns do. However the effect of coffee might be overestimated...

I HATE coffee the only thing i like aside from caffeine pills (what i take) is soda.

Coffee has 31-100mg depending on the strength of it.

So i took the equivalent of 4 Strong coffees

So in the end it depends how strong your coffee is and how tolerant of the drug you are.

Wouldn't work for me. I am unaffected by caffeine. I have had large amounts, no effect, gone without any for a month, no effect.

It's great. Just appreciate a single cup of coffee and then let it have some hours to metabolize. No ill effects and the body won't harden to the pleasant effects that way.

Considering that caffeine is a very very potent poison: Yep I'd say there is a very high risk in any form of direct intake of caffeine.
One little bit too much and you're dead.

Personally I like tea more than coffee and my 0.4 liters cup isn't enough for any noticeable effect at all.
Years ago I had a phase of drinking 1-2 liters a day. That had a noticeable effect and didn't feel very good, so I stopped with that.

i get easily distracted lol. anyway, OP, if you take coffee for a week without eating food, you'll probably die because it messes up your brain. the caffeine can trigger heart attack too

If you drink coffee till it kills you, it won't be the caffeine that kills you, it'll be the water.

Exactly yes. What I mean is that the OP sounds a bit like he is talking about caffeine powder and with that the dosage is very easy to get wrong, especially since many people don't realize that the reason why caffeine in coffee or tea is mostly harmless is because there is only milligrams of it in there. When you take a little spoon of caffeine you're already way above that.

Tea is the one thing I drink for taste that has 0 sugar in it and I don't add sugar either.
My sugar comes from cookies. Too many cookies.... xD

Caffeine is too weak to be a recreational drug. The high is weak or nonexistent compared to that provided by other drugs.

High doses of caffeine don't give a comfortable buzz. They just make you uncomfortable and restless. Caffeine is a natural poison made by plants to repel insects, so you sure can OD on it. 500mg is pretty much where I max out and I try not to go that far. And I have tolerance. Having too much is bad for your heart and can kill you. This is why Monster labels tell you not to drink cans back-to-back. It can kill you and people have died from having energy drinks. It didn't take very many to kill them, either.

Yeah, so if you have average or low tolerance, it's probably a bad idea to suddenly decide to have 500mg one day for fun. You'll feel bad more than good.

I drink several cups of black coffee on work days, up to 8, maybe even 10. On regular off days, I only have 2. I also have 200mg sustained release capsules that last 8 hours each but those are for days that I can't access coffee. I'm only around 140 pounds at the moment and it took time to build up this tolerance.

Well, the OP would still have to take about twenty pills to reach toxic levels. Probably through a needle for it to not get voided reflexively.

Main issue is really just taking so much that the body develops tolerance - at some point there will only be a placebo effect. Toxicity and addiction are sort of non-factors with caffeine. Those are issues with drugs like alcohol.

If I go a month without any coffee and then drink a strong cup, I get a high from it. In that sense it's pretty cool for me but overall I'm pretty sensitive to coffee, what I mean by that is more than two cups can make me feel uneasy and tense. If your drinking coffee or taking isolated caffeine everyday to help you get through the day I would question that and assert that it's probably not sustainable in the long run, I would compare it to taking a bank loan (a small one at that) but on a continual basis and somewhere down the line your gonna have to pay back your debt.

It's kinda like a drug albeit a weak one, definitely not as strong as other substances. I personally like it at times but I go on and off depending on how I feel.I also counterbalance the effects of caffeine with L-theanine which helps.
