This is why Monster labels tell you not to drink cans back-to-back. It can kill you and people have died from having energy drinks. It didn't take very many to kill them, either.

Honestly, yeah, should probably not drink a second of their crazy cocktails without taking the time to piss out the first.

All I know of caffeine is that high doses may result in cardiac dysrhythmias, which is why people with palpitations, heart failure, or a-fib or v-fib heart disease are recommended against taking caffeine. Usually most supplements aren't regulated, and I wouldn't trust the general public with any of it.

Exactly yes. What I mean is that the OP sounds a bit like he is talking about caffeine powder and with that the dosage is very easy to get wrong, especially since many people don't realize that the reason why caffeine in coffee or tea is mostly harmless is because there is only milligrams of it in there. When you take a little spoon of caffeine you're already way above that.

Well, the OP would still have to take about twenty pills to reach toxic levels. Probably through a needle for it to not get voided reflexively.

Main issue is really just taking so much that the body develops tolerance - at some point there will only be a placebo effect. Toxicity and addiction are sort of non-factors with caffeine. Those are issues with drugs like alcohol.

I'd say a substance that is lethal at a dosage of only a few grams is certainly toxic.
Sure no drink contains that much, but there is pure powder available on the net to buy. People have died from making the mistake of underestimating the effect of that stuff. A small spoon of it can put you at a great risk already. A bigger spoon and you're straight on your way to the graveyard.

Wouldn't work for me. I am unaffected by caffeine. I have had large amounts, no effect, gone without any for a month, no effect.

Drink 13 monsters in 8 hours and you are on the verge of your body shutting down. My friend did the before and he looked like he was on drugs.

No thanks I prefer a mixture of Hashish, Coke, and Dr Pepper, and Oxycotin. Caffeine is too mild.

I tried one of those 5 hour energy drinks. Didn't do shit. Coffee, caffeine pills, energy drinks, etc. None of that seems to do anything to me. Although I do rather enjoy drinking black tea for the taste. Cinnamon coffee too.

Just eat nutmeg. 15 grams was enough for me. Not for everyone, though, but at least it's more plausible than using caffeine as a recreational drug, which is saying something about how silly it is to try to abuse caffeine.

Or how desperate you can be to find "good" drugs to abuse for personal liberty's sake of using them, but you're too chicken to use the bad illegal/fatal ones. (Like the kids in Tom Sawyer's day who tried smoking cornsilk because they couldn't get the real thing.)
If so, maybe you're just not cut out for it, and no shame in admitting it.

I also get my caffeine through the Former Cocaine Soda, since I also can't stand coffee (I was raised on cocoa, and can't stand dirty brown water--If I go to a Starbucks, my coffee's got to be a minor flavor-enhancing ingredient in my chocolate, caramel, pumpkin and whipped cream before I'll touch it).
In extreme circumstances, I'll switch to a Crystal Light "Energy" Caffeine Drink, but only if I know I have to be up till 3 or 4am. Which isn't often, but it's happened.
I also have a chocolate cake recipe that calls for a cup of coffee to activate the ingredients, and if I don't strain the coffee enough before using it, I don't even need the drinks to get a buzz, just a piece of the cake.

Caffeine in moderation improves cardiovascular outcomes through an unknown mechanism, though people who drink coffee are more likely to smoke or practice unhealthy lifestyles.

Caffeine acts as prophylaxis against major depressive disorder in women and probably men as well, given the nearly identical neurobiology of men and women. This is unsurprising given that other psychostimulants also protect against depression: nicotine has a small antidepressant effect and amphetamines have very strong antidepressant effects.

Caffeine is useful for bolstering memory because it effects long-term potentiation in the hippocampus (the memory center of the brain).

As a vigilance aid caffeine is subpar. Options like modafinil and amphetamines offer far greater performance at the cost of proportionally fewer, less severe side effects (when used appropriately) but require prescriptions.

Whether you enjoy caffeine is a subjective matter, but, given the health benefits, it is worth a try, at least.

I already consume enough soda to account for any caffeine a caffeine pill would provide me.

It's great. Just appreciate a single cup of coffee and then let it have some hours to metabolize. No ill effects and the body won't harden to the pleasant effects that way.

I don't get any impact unless it's 400mg or more.

Yay for natural tolerance to Caffeine?

Does caffeine have much of an affect? It doesn't really alter how your body processes/perceives sensory information like other drugs so I can't see what the advantage is but then it must affect everyone differently.

For me caffeine stops me from sleeping, it doesn't give me any kind of boost or energy just stops sleeping.

Anything in large amounts over long periods is bad for you though I've been told tomatoes are the only thing you can eat continuously without side effects
