Iam a fairly big gamer. I dont play MMO's or anything but i do play games like Battlefield on line quite a bit. I think i've put around 600 hours into it(BF4, probably 2-3000 hours in Bf2,BC,BF3 and BF4 combined).
I put like 200 hours into Dragon age and about 150 into Divinity original sin.
I dont play games every single day, i do go out and socialize. I get out the house or have people over a bit but i do have my heavy gaming phases then phases where i game less.
I did just book four days off of work so i can thrash out Falloyt 4 lol...
I've always been a gamer but despite that i have always been social also and used to play sport and used to play pool competitively.
I like RPG's which i guess are seen as anti social games (single player).
As a kid i loved games but would often play two player with friends. Back in the day when we would all be in the same room as each other passing the control pads around playing fighting games and stuff.
I used to hang out at arcades and go to lock ins.
We used to have LAN's a fair bit, sometimes they went for 3 days.
I am in a gaming clan and have been for years and i used to play Battlefield 2 and Bad company competitively.

I have owned every console that came out except N64, PS3. Wii, Wiiu, Xbox one and PS4, oh and the 3DO thingy but i owned every single Sega(including mega cd and 32x) , all other Ninitendos, First two Xboxs, Atari 2600 and i used to have a commodoer 64. (i almost only play PC games now).

Never owned a hand held.

I dont live at home but when i did my room actually was quite a bit like the picture that you posted. Appart from the fact that i also had a massive cd collection (hip hop). And some rapper posters.

Most of my figurines and video games and anime are all in boxes and/or at my mums house. I have a spare room with some on display.
I have my 360 and PS2 games on a shelf. All my pc games i buy digital and have been doing so for some time.
Over 200 games in my steam library.

I guess video games do effect my socail life but not enough to not have one. At times all i want to do is game though.

Considering spending $999 on the GTX 980 Ti. I guess iam a gamer?

I am a gamer: PC games, tabletop strategy, RPG, board games, card games. I play and obsess over them all.

When I was in my mid-late 20's I had an entire room that was floor to ceiling bookshelves filled with hardcover books, gaming supplies, and multiple Warhammer, Warhammer 40k armies. Raising a family and moving many, many times has forced me to cut back.

I used to play games a lot more often than I do now.. but games just seem to not be as good as they used to be..

I used to like playing on harder difficulties on difficult games, but game developers these days seem to confuse bullshit, trial and error, and chance with "hard". Meh.

For that reason, I've kind of fallen in on rhythm games as of the past 2 months. My favorite is Love Live: School Idol Festival, but just started playing Osu! and that game has some REALLY fun beatmaps. Starting to become a hardcore rhythm game enthusiast, I think. My friends have me pumped up to play persona (dancing all night I think it was called?) so, I'll play that with them next time I visit. xD

I still play most bethesda games, and a couple of old school RPG's, but, other than that, games just haven't really been doing it for me that much as of late.

Amen to that. Never understood why ppl got so obsessed with DarkSouls.

Because Dark Souls isn't trial and error? Well, at least it isn't as long as you actually pay attention. Almost all traps and ambushes are perfectly predictable as long as you don't go rushing through the level not paying attention to the environment and all enemies can be killed first time you see them, with the exception of a few bosses.

Actually, I will grant you that figuring out the controls and mechanics is trial and error if you don't want to look up this stuff, and that is entirely a fault of the game, but not one that ruins it in my mind.

But anyway, I'll play just about anything except for fps games with no story, but my favourite games are the ones that tell stories in ways no other medium could, like Dark Souls, Silent Hill 2, Bioshock.

I'm more of an MMORPG gamer if anything. I began to fell out of normal single player gaming because of the lack of social aspects.

Although if anyone wants to play Left4Dead2 they can add me. I'm not very good :/.

Ever since I was younger I would also go to my friends house to play the video games they had and I could not afford. I love playing everything no matter how many times I die in less than ten minutes. ^^'

Me. My room looks like the picture in the opening post here, minus the sewing machine. Growing up during the Console Wars, I sided with Nintendo, and Nintendo has remained my console of choice ever since. Do I think Nintendo systems are better than every other platform? No, certainly not. They just happen to have the games I'm more interested in playing. Since I've grown up and have been playing for over twenty years though, I've come to appreciate the systems and games I never picked up or played during the Console Wars, and I have also obtained several of these older consoles as well, including a Genesis, PS2, and an entire Dreamcast kiosk display. I now have amassed a collection of over 1,000 video games, and believe it or not, I have never traded in or sold a video game in my entire life. I've spent an immeasurable amout of time playing every kind of game under the sun, and I have no plans of stopping.

Also amiibo. Lol.

Yeah i was a Sega and Sonic man(well kid) for a long time.
I had friends with Snes and have good memories of that but i had the Mega drive(Genesis) and a massive collection of games.
I ended up being introduced to JRPG's like Legend of Zelda and secret of mana and i ended up getting a Snes.
Think i actually got Master system and Nes after having mega drive and Snes but i forget?
I liked The Sega saturn and skipped the N64, i LOVED dreamcast.
Got the game cube but then it was all ps2(i had ps1 also) and xbox really.
Liked the 360 waaaay more thna the first xbox.

Iam like you, i have a massive collection of games and i have only vary rarely ever sold or traded a game.
All my games are either in boxes or shelves or at my mums house.
I've kind of accepted alot of them being hand me downs to my little brother and sister and if any of them want to have them for their kids but not the snes or saturn or etc.

Unfortunately i have had some games stolen or lent some out and never gotten them back..

My worst experience is with Suikoden. I lent part one and now have it with no game manual....and part 2 i lent out and my mates PS was stolen with my game in it so all i have is a empty case and manual...
They are both rare in PAL format and selling for hundreds on e bay..

Its funny i own lots of PS3 games and dont even have a PS3. lol theres 2 PS3's in my house now though, both not mine.
I've imported games that were unavailable in my country also.
Used to use a convertor with Mega drive and Snes and thankfully some newer consoles are region free.

EDIT: oh and me nad my mates hire pin ball machines sometimes, dose that count as gaming?

Ouch. Sorry to hear that. Sounds like even still you probably have a better collection than I do. Many of my games, especially in the past few years, I've purchased used at places like thrift stores, antique malls, and yard sales in order to save money and purchase these older games I missed growing up. Most of the cartridge based games I've been getting are just the cartridges only, and I'd rather apply the money I would use purchasing the box and instruction booklet on another game. Granted, this only applies to Nintendo systems before Nintendo Gamecube, Sega systems, and original PlayStation games, and there are a few booklets I need to purchase to make a complete game, namely Meteos for the Nintendo DS. I'd like to get a PlayStation 3 at some point, but only when I find one for a really good deal, since there overall aren't very many exclusive games on it that I'm interested in. A copy of Resident Evil: Code: Veronica for PS2 I found at a thrift store had a PS3 game stuffed inside instead (one of the Call of Duty games I think), but I needed the instruction book for the Resident Evil game so I bought it. At least I'll have something to play when I actually get a system? Lol.

As for the pinball machines, why not? A game is a game, isn't it?

^ Yeah i noticed alot of people sell Ninteno games cartridge only. Cardboard boxes n all..
Yep thats the way to buy em. You can get some real bargains. Like second hand games are worth next to nothing initailly and to some but then some (as you know) can become rare and collectable.
A game that might be going for $100 on e bay you might find for $2 at the places that you mentioned.
I dont buy many second hand games overal but i have bought alot over the years.
Sucks when you get them from stores and theres stickers stuck everywhere.
or you order it from e bay and it turns out to be an x rental without the proper case or the booklet is glued in and etc.
But yeah it took me many years to leanr to not lend shit out. And for a long time i stopped but just recently i got weak and lent some stuff out again...
Unemployed friends..
Not sure if i'll get back project zero on PS2.. a mates girlfriend wanted to buy it. A mate had my FFXIII and ended up having to buy a replacement for me cos he lent it to another guy..
And theres my PS2.. got my 360 back at least.. He admitted he pawned it to get smokes, but he got it back out..
Friends, its a love hate thing..

Yeah i do still intend to buy a PS3. I'd like to buy a new one but they still a little pricey. Might get 2nd hand in the end.

Yeah i had a mate pass away and i had lent him some games. He left alot of stuff to me and heaps of his games (and some of mine) as well as his cds had wrong disc in wrong box or the game was missing or etc.
I had to rebuy one game (a PS2 one) but he died so i couldn't really be mad.

Yep! i almost consider playing pool as gaming, but not really i guess

Another sign that i am a gamer is how half asleep i am at work all the time... like right now just jumped out the game i was playing and my alarm for work goes off in about 5 1/2 hours...

I tend to mostly play RPG's/MMO's but I do delve into other genres from time to time as well. Lately, I've been more into single player JRPG's than anything else.

you don't even really need to pay attention lol, for the first 3 games you can just run around with a 100% phys damage shield and make most of the game a joke and even that isn't necessary if you just take a couple minutes to practice rolling
in bloodborne you might as well have infinite stamina on top of nearly instant healing, ranged parries, very few hidden areas or traps, etc.
i'll never understand why people think the games are unfair

ot i pretty much stick to fps and rpgs, some platformers are fun but eh
some strategy games are cool as well but the time sinks are usually too large for me
i used to be able to play games 18 hours a day without breaking a sweat but for the last year or two i've really only played a couple games for maybe a few hours a week, probably just burnout
