I made a previous topic asking a general question of "Do you have the right to defend yourself against the police?"

I think the question was lacking so I have a more pointed question:

Assuming you have done nothing wrong and are law abiding and the cops stop you get hyped and starts pulling and beating you, you instantly feel your life is being threaten and you are afraid you are going to be killed, do you have the right or should you have the right to defend your life against the police even to the point of wounding or killing the cop?

Tell me your thoughts.

Thank you!

if you let them off, they'll come back to try and kill you again (only with more people since they failed the first time). so, what will you do?

If im attacked by the police they better hope they kill me. Because if I live I swear im going to sue the whole state into third world poverty. Im claiming any mental and physical debilitation I can get away with.

Self-Defense = Physical retaliation.

No. You do not have the right to physically attack anyone. Especially not police. What you do have is the right to a well trained police force that doesn't allow for questions like this. We have the right to feel safe. If police won't protect us we have to protect ourselves. Wear our own body cameras, use our own dash cams. In these cases, we must be nosy neighbors. With all these cameras we still don't get the full story? 23 witnesses and no one saw anything? No your rights on recording as they pertain to your state and rally to change them if they are lacking.

It is up to us to make this not a thing. No one will help, not the police, not the government. It's only blue lives that matter, after all.

You have the right to defend yourself, no matter who the attacker is. There are Self Defence laws in place that allow this.

What matters is how the courts see it. Go ahead and assume that regardless of circumstances the courts are going to be in favor of a cop from the get go.

Heck yes. And if your American just remember...we fought a war with England and killed people for freedom over stuff far less than self defense. In other words if things get worse over here than they already are, with overtly corrupt judges and politicians (more than the usual), then Americans can just say f you and kick 'em out, hold new elections, making sure the Constitution and law is obeyed and everyone is peaceful about it of course, and there you go. I would like to emphasize the peacefulness of it. There is no sense in making the countless peaceful social activists who've been killed throughout history (like some of the Quakers, some playwrights, and Martin Luther King Jr.) die in vain, just get your stuff together and make things happen if you need too. Sorry....I got a history degree, and sometimes my history comes out, and I'm a social activist too and that tends to come out too at random times
You just have to remember that they are more likely to shoot you if you defend yourself. But if you feel like you might die anyway, well, you should choose how you go I guess. They might still blame you for it, but...I mean...Prince John called Robin Hood a thief, and King Richard called him the most honorable man in the kingdom. Probably not the best comparison, but whatever.

Ditto. I don't think this thread is substantially different from the previous one.

You should.

You probably don't, or the police has so much power that your testimony is de-fanged, but even if you don't have that right, you should still do it. No innocent person should be expected to stand still and be executed.

I would, but thankfully I have thus far not had any problems with the officers in my town. Kind of the opposite to be honest.

The odds are definitely stacked against you, both legally and physically. They not only carry guns but also a taser and possibly pepper spray and they're probably wearing a vest under their uniform.

Your best defense is to actually know at least one of the officers who work your area, or at least have a reputation of trying to do the right thing without wasting their time. Report a significant crime (such as an assault) if you see one, stick your neck out and actually write the witness statement rather than phone-in a useless "anonymous" call. That kind of thing.
