Oops, I was fixing the forum names and copy/pasted Creative twice.

Database not stolen, breach was minor and user facing. No sensitive data was accessed. Better precautions will be taken.

Was just about to re-instate my Premium account when I saw the Wartsrike thing. Looks like I'll be holding off on doing that. o.O;

They are not likely to get hacked easily; after all, we'd have seen it numerous times before it that was the case. I'm with TheOmegaForce on this because the changes are a little peculiar; and I also hope that CR would not store account information such as credit cards on the same database and server as the forums and website.

Forget my earlier comment, like, CR is a big company can they even get hacked that easily?

There are people out there that can easily hack the US Government.

Or even huge companies with millions of users such as Target or Blizzard.

Compared to them CR is barely a scratching mark to these hackers.

Are you 100% sure? lol

Well thanks for letting us know, I think there should be an official announcement though just in case for all the freaked out users.

CR has a much smaller surface area than massive conglomerates or governments.

My guess is that someone's account password got out, and whoever got that password made grandiose threats with it.

We are going to continue to investigate but this is as I understand it at the moment. It looks like a very simple attack that would not expose sensitive data.

What I don't understand is why did they even bother announcing that they were hacking CR? Was it just someone seeking attention?

My bank account got charged for airline tickets and hotel rooms that I did not purchase a few days ago and today was charged with over 4300 dollars today on some kind of tickets. Cancel the cards, because a total of 5 grand was almost stolen from me. Crunchyroll is wrong. Cancel your cards, the info has been hacked.

It's a common ransom tactic. Sometimes they'll encrypt all your data/files and demand money to have it decrypted, and sometimes it's just a bluff.

A quick google search of Warstrike and hacker brought up something about giving stuff out that is paid for out for free.

So... my guess is putting the videos out for free somewhere... as if that isn't already done in about a few hundred places already.
