Why is it every time I get into a new anime (having watched a lot) that they are 12-13 episodes. And they Always have the biggest cliff hangers. ITS SO DAMN ANNOYING
Just watched Maoyu (a good anime that could easily be stretched to 30-40 episodes) and it left with one of the biggest cliffhangers that i have ever been unfortunate enough to experience. That anime could easily be 50-60 maybe even 70 episodes if they continued it, and stretched out the 12 that they made. WTF
Also animes like World Break: Aria of Curse for a Holy Swordsman, No Game No Life, Problem Children are Coming from Another World, aren't they, etc.

P.S. just venting it's been annoying

I tend to agree, there are so many anime that would be ever more awesome if they had twice as many episodes in a season.

I think Blue Exorcist for all the hype it had (about as much as Sword Art Online had when it came out) it ended really quickly all of a sudden. As I watched the series I myself knew of several ways to expand on the story and I felt it could have at least lasted 48 episodes minimum. I was very upset when I watched the last episode, I was like "Really? That is it? That was extremely rushed!" I remember others commenting the same on the episode comments section on how it ended all of a sudden and they expected more for all the hype.

I call them Light Novel previews. Manga previews also works too. It doesn't bother me since I usually feel the original work is better.

AoEx anime diverted drastically from the manga early in the series. Most Manga-ka would rather cut it short than risk making their books lose popularity. That ending can't be salvaged unless the director pulls a Black Butler and completely ignores the last season.

If you want to see a good, long 70 episode anime, watch Monster. Just picked it up and it's fantastic. You'll have to find it, through.

Because money.

The studios are uncertain if the show will flop or succeed. A 1-cour show is a lot less risky than a 2-cour show, you lose less money if it flops.
--------------------

That being said, the biggest victim for me is "Mondaiji-tachi ga Isekai kara Kuru Sou Desu yo?".
10 episodes? Come on! It's so good too.

Will there be a second season? No.

I hate it when anime doesn't do a full adaptation. It is the worst!! Bleach, Berserk, Deadman Wonderland, Food Wars is a recent. Or bad 12 episode adaptations like Tokyo Ghoul. Ugh

Isn't Bleach a long-runner?

Food Wars is a pretty decent length, most shows don't 3-cour because it would be hell for the studios with scheduling. Plus no financial guarantees of success.

Never really understood this argument.

Of course they can't make every show have tons of episodes:
1. Money
2. Source Material isn't finished.

For #2, if they animate the series all the way to where the source material you still in end up with the same problems.
1. Do they just stop making the anime when it reaches the source material, then you just end up with a big cliffhanger anyways.
2. Filler (and I know everybody loves the filler in Naruto) until more material is released which can be very slow since alot of stuff isn't weekly chapters.
3. Original Anime Ending (another thing every anime fan loves) which ends the story thus removing the cliffhanger ending.
