People don't care what the premise of the topic is anymore, the minute you associate anything with a ethnicity, culture, or gender, even if it's statistically proven and extensively researched, they slate you for generalization. This is a society of tumblrites with nothing better to do than instigate drama. Even Japan recognizes the correlation between suicide, depression, and their work ethic.

Yep i remember a thread i started was flagged and closed and iam fairly sure that the person/people who flagged it did so without even reading it at all. They just saw the thread title and bang.
Plus alot of people forget that everyone is entitled to an opinion.
And some people forget that they are not always right.
AND, so many people get offended over things that dont actually have anything to do with them personally. Like they get more offended than the actual people involved are or would get.
EDIT:

You used existing studies. Facts, research, and statistics are offensive if they hurt peoples feelings and must be altered to make people feel better.

We all have our own Culture, I heard that Thumb up is consider rude in some Country. That why when US President go another Country he had to be reminded to what to do and what NOT TO DO! XD

I wonder if there one thing that offend us (USA)? That its isn't intentional to insult us? XD

It's been a well known issue with Japan for quite awhile now. Maybe your grammar did trigger some, but really, some people are so pro-ANOTHER CULTURE it's almost like they are in a cult.

1. It was probably the SS Uniform you wore for Halloween. People get touchy about that.
2. This is the internet. The internet takes offense to everything. Its a pansy that needs to grow up.
3. How dare you use facts to support your arguments! That is highly offensive to people who live in magical fairy dreamcastles.

People who identify with x will be offended when x gets criticized, especially when they are under the influence that x is widely supported by their peers. Your intent is irrelevant when they feel as if their identity is threatened. A basic human need is to feel as if one belongs. It's essentially just a drive.

If you haven't offended anyone, you haven't said anything worth a damn.

Probably your tone, delivery and word choice for your audience needed adjustment.

"According to some studies I've read, a lot of people with social phobia in Japan might be afraid of the pressure they see as the mainstream work culture of 90 hour work weeks."

Less aggressive than "Japan's shut-in problem is probably because the Japanese work too much."

Hey!! How did China get involved in this issue!?.... Oh.... wait.... they have a penal system that ensures that their captive labor force remains docile and willing to work themselves to death for no pay versus the slacker Japanese who demand that they at least get paid reasonably for dying on the job.....

You're an ignorant 18 year old with the spelling, grammar, and punctuation of a 8 year old. I doubt that you have been out of NY let alone out of the US so when it comes to what it going on in a foreign country all you are doing is demonstrating your ignorance. Throw in a racist comment and no wonder people were offended.

Just because you can go to Google and roll your face around on the keyboard doesn't mean that you know what you are talking about.

My face when his from Australia and you said that you doubt his been outside the US.

What I find even more entertaining is that You're probably actually sub consciously generalizing US citizens to be ignorant as you assumed him to be from the USA straight away, that's way too cute.
