Hulu now has an ad free service, and a large selection of anime that include anime from Crunchyroll, Funimation, and Daisuke (subbed and dubbed). Is anyone tempted to change subscriptions to hulu?

I have found that having Crunchyroll, Hulu, and Netflix really is the best option for me. I can pretty much find anything I want anime wise, and have no complaints. I jumped for joy when Hulu came out with the ad free option and now i'm watching Noragami Aragoto with no interruptions.

I upgraded to adfree a couple weeks ago and I'm using the crap out of it like never before. I have a good amount of streaming services now and can honestly say it's given a huge jolt to my anime and manga love.

Here's a post I made this week in another Hulu thread:

I'm making some notes on HD vs SD on Hulu for my own references on whether the new commercial free sub is worth my money, but figured may as well share them here as well. To note, this won't be entirely accurate. I only checked the HD availability on a handful of series per channel.

HD channels:
Aniplex- 52 series (many on Crunchyroll)
4k Media (yugioh)- 4 series
Daisuke- 3 series
Neon Alley (Viz Media)- 37 series
Sunrise- 1 series
Pokemon Company- 3 series
Toei Animation- 12 series
Overall- 112 series

SD only channels:
Anime Network (Sentai)- 29 series
Bandai- 22 series
Funimation- 300 series
Manga Entertainment- 38 series
Sentai Filmworks- 279 series (majority of these on Crunchyroll)
Speed Racer Enterprises (seriously lol)- 1 series
Overall- 669 series

To note, there are older SD series that stream on channels that have HD content (because they were made before HD was a thing). But the picture quality is much higher than the channels I listed as SD only- so I'd still consider them to be at least in the realm of Enhanced Definition.

Personally, if I either didn't care about HD programming or mostly had older TV's in my house, I'd drop everything I'm subscribed to right now (Crunchyroll and Funimation) and just make a complete switch to ad free Hulu. They house basically every anime that's legally available under the sun.

But since I do care about picture quality, dropping Crunchyroll or Funimation just isn't going to happen.

So in consideration of that fact, when I subtract the series that CR and Funi bring to the table for Hulu's catalog, you're only really left with a pretty sad little assortment of a handful of Sentai, Viz, and Aniplex titles that are often older and/or not very popular. And most of them are on the SD channels as well.

The only thing that would probably get me to upgrade my Hulu to ad free would be if I were to start using it as a replacement for cable. But that's a whole other discussion

Why change? I pay for Hulu ad free AND CR as well as Funi and Netflix. I don't watch "TV" I just stream everything. Those are my "TV."

You can pay 10$ a month to get no Ads from youtube, or you can be like me and use adblocker.

It's your choice.

If I were into serialized TV content (not anime), I'd consider it. As it stands, I'm ok with just CR and Funi with the ocassional Daisuki.

I refuse to use Hulu. There should only be one subscription and it should be without ads. Until that happens and it is under $8 a month I will not be using their site. If they have exclusive access to series then I'll just wait until it is on Blu-ray. I absolutely hate Hulu as a company and will not be giving them even a penny (edit: so long as the membership structure is like how it currently is).
