Also - seriously, how crazy hard is Burger Time. First level, not too bad. Level 2, tough, but doable. Level 3 - AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH EVIL PICKLES!

I loved Burger Time! I don't think I had the NES / Famicom version though... I played the MS DOS version I remember alternating between that, Digger, and I'm not sure which iteration of King's Quest.

Uncharted Waters: New Horizons. I have played the Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis versions, which have just a few differences. I like how the player can follow the storylines for each character, or wander off and explore the world, or a mix of the two. It's reasonably challenging. The world includes a hint of fantasy, and does not have too much realism.

A bar in Cleveland has this for free play, and it's one. giant. acid. trip.

What did I like about Final Fantasy 4? Several things...

* First video game that I played with a plot more complex than "Save the world / save the princess."
* Every character had different abilities. They were not interchangeable in combat.
* Simple 16-bit graphics that clearly portrayed the world.
* It was mostly played for drama, but there were some amusing scenes.

The plot of FF4 hasn't aged well. However, I thoroughly enjoyed it during 1991-92. Looking back, I now appreciate how the story didn't seem concerned about making its characters seem fashionable or cool.

What did I like about Dragon Quest 4? Again, several things...

* The first four chapters were not too short or too long. They introduced the world and the characters piece by piece.
* A few combat surprises. I did not expect to see a group of slimes combine into a single giant slime.
* It included a mining town where people were slowly dying, and there was nothing that the playable characters could do to save it.
* There was a dungeon near the beginning of chapter five which tried to confuse the player, and make them think that the characters were betraying each other.

I liked Dragon Quest 3 more overall, and it became my favorite of the 8-bit DQ titles. I enjoyed DQ5 and 6 thanks to fan translation patches during the early 2000s, and I made sure to purchase their official localizations when they were released on Nintendo DS.
