Hmmm I think I get what you are trying to say. Are old wounds easier to open than it is for others?
Like if someone hurt you before after some time has passed does it become easier to become hurt again (like letting down your guard)?
Am I in the ballpark for what you are trying to ask?

i think he meant:

if you have a painful memory from something that happened in the past (such as your loved ones dying from a car crash), would you be more emotionally vulnerable if you experience the same event again?

the answer is ...depends on the person. ┐( ̄ヘ ̄;)┌

Take it or take the door to the left out.

You get what you get and nothing more.

Are you looking for a certain answer, or everyone's individual truths? We are gonna vary, ya know.
