Basically I am in an anime rut and don't know what to watch. There is always so much to choose from but it doesn't matter when I'm in this kind of rut.Its like no matter what I watch I can't fully enjoy it.When normally I'm anime 100 percent of the time.So my question is what anime do you watch when your in an anime rut.

White Album 2. Honestly been in a rut since that show aired. Seen it 17 times now?

ef - A Tale of Memories was the last go-to show, for me. I depended on that up to 13 times?

I may be a little different though. I don't relate my dislike of most airing shows as a rut. I see it as my base level of liking anime and I just focus on the good things per year. I'd say 2007, 2011, 2013 were the big years for me. Any time between them were a "rut" and yet during each of the three listed years I'd get obsessed with one show or another. I suppose I never got obsessed with a single particular show before 2007 and even in 2011 I felt three series were amazing, but not amazing for me to go crazy about re-watching over and over.

Anyways......... I watch WA2 in bad times and during good times. I usually watch it by default during every season I am not watching anything interesting. I also watch it randomly because I know it will hold my attention whether I marathon it or not.

Rewatch your favorite anime. Or you just need to keep watching until you find that one anime that brings you back in.

I'm in a rut with my backlog, but mostly comes from watching mediocre anime and episodic anime (the worst kind to marathon, especially when they are 25+).

Thus I'm rewatching Gurren Lagann right now; since I need an exciting, over the top anime to take me away from the boring backlog.

Very good suggestions so far I will have to give each a try.I'm really looking for something to pull me back into the swing of things.Something I can get excited about, but going back and watching my favorite anime sounds fun too.

AKB0048, Amagi Brilliant Park, Clannad, Code Geass, Fate, Guilty Crown, Hibike Euphonium, Kokoro Connect, Psycho Pass, Parasyte, Your Lie in April, AOT, or Steins;Gate, to name a few of my personal favorites. I'd also recommend watching the anime that got you into anime in the first place (you know, nostalgia and all that jazz).

.

This is sort of where I stand as well. The height of my anime obsession was when I was a teenager, so I tend to cling to stuff from around that time. This includes most of the shows from the old Adult Swim blocks (Outlaw Star, YuYu Hakusho, Cowboy Bebop, Gundam 0080) as well as some strays I picked up in college.

When I feel the need to be reintroduced to why anime is great, I stick with either Cowboy Bebop or Samurai Champloo. Those two are golden. Reading Attack on Titan also propelled me into manga again.

Man I hate getting into an anime rut. I'm currently in one since I finished reading Claymore and I feel empty now that it's over. Usually when this happens I go back and watch stuff like Nichijou or Haganai, just for some laughs.

Whenever I am in a rut, I will normally binge an English show for a week and then I am all ready for anime again

This is also my strategy. If I don't wanna watch anime, I'll get into other media for a while. Sooner or later, I'll be in the mood to watch more anime.
