I think that as long as people respect each other's traditions or lack thereof, there should be no issue. If someone doesn't want to participate, so be it. What difference does it make? Let people live their lives without cramming your beliefs and traditions or lack thereof down their throats

I think people put too much weight on what other people say about them because it can ruin reputations. Back in my Mexican hometown my mother wouldn't be allowed to talk to any random man because people would start talking their shit about her,

Even here in the States most Mexican women will not talk to their husbands friends.
