I see the "war on Christmas" types are just as ridiculously touchy and pathetic as ever.

When they dig out the "War on Christmas"(tm) phrase (It's a conspiracy by the secular media!), it's a big alarm bell and red flag that the Fundie elements are seeking headlines again. Preferably with what they resentfully think the rest of us pay more attention to. Like, um, Starbucks.

(They've made a few comments among themselves that this is the very specific strategy. They believe "The Media" pays more attention to trends and celebrities than to themselves, you see, and must be "outwitted" to direct our attention back to them.
Immature? Desperate? Sour grapes to the point of vinegar? You betcha, and more.)

Wow. That is beyond stupid. People nowadays just look for any small thing to complain about.

It's fascinating honestly. -Anthropology of Religion Nerd mode engaged-
Like this is one company that has time and again made clear that if they have to choose between the Christian far Right, and the Secular Mainstream they're going with mainstream (because $$$$$$$$$) and yet somehow this message hasn't sunk in...

Like the "war on Christmas" is ridiculous. I mean this is a pluralist society. People should be able to wish people a good time regardless.
I mean, I say "Blessed Yule" and you'd think I'd burst into a rousing chorus of: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LqfoNtExjaQ

Seen the headline on newsfeeds. As far as I know, this may well be a hit piece by the secular media to skewer Christians. They cite this one guy's campaign as somehow representative of Christians in general. I'll assume he's sincere, but he's just one guy. As a Christian myself (and relatively fundamentalist at that, and who even buys Starbucks coffee on occasion-- much cheaper though to grind and brew your own cup at home) I've never heard of him, and no one I know really cares a wit about this (non-) "issue."

Are people actually up in arms over this thing? Talk about giving religious folks a bad rap.

I'm deeply offended and triggered by the Red cups. You know what else is Red? Blood and the Devil. Starbucks are pouring the blood of the damned souls in your coffee.

I don't even care about preemptive holiday celebrating anymore, I've seen it too many times.
Obviously businesses and companies want to capitalize (their gains) on the "holiday spirit"and when you celebrate early that means that the holiday season lasts longer and you make more money.
Do I care?: Not in the slightest if you want to make the whole "holiday season" a thing knock yourself if it upsets you well then I'm sure you'll become indifferent at some point later.

Apparently people's lives are so good that the only thing they have to worry about is the design of a paper coffee cup.

I am truly envious.

I stopped going to Starbucks a long time ago . . . unless it's a treat SOMEONE-ELSE is paying for... Too damned spendy!

BUT

I think it's funny as hell that people are butt-hurt about the RED cups...

I first went to Starbucks when they were about a half-dozen stores in Seattle and I do not recall them EVER having a "Christian" Christmas motif... except maybe St. Nick.... if you want to stretch the metaphor...
