Do You Take Off Your Shoes When You're Inside Your House?
Posted 11/10/15 , edited 11/12/15
.I take my shoes off whenever I'm inside my house or someone else's house, even if they insist on me leaving them on.

I'm just still surprised some people don't take their shoes off at all. Won't your house get dirty? Why would you take the extra time to clean that?

You don't have to be barefooted, you can wear socks or slippers once you're inside. Why would you want to wear shoes inside your house if you can do those options?

Well, I just moved, and we're trying to not completely mess the place up... Give it a while and we'll probably stop caring as much.

So, yes.

Sometimes, when I'm parked at the computer desk I usually have them on. The only time I have them off is the occasion I'm watching TV in the living room or laying down on bed/couch.

Being brought up by a Japanese mum I always thought it was normal. Found it weird first few times I went to friends house that they didn't take shoes off. Not that it stopped me.

What the fuck? Shouldn't the question be in other people's houses? Who the fuck doesn't take off their shoes in their own house? The fuck is this shit...

In the house(s) I grew up in, it was not the habit to take off shoes in the house, unless they were completely mucky. We usually walked around the house in the same shoes we wore outside.

Sometime as an adult I did start the habit of removing my shoes and putting on slippers when I entered my home, but that possibly didn't start until I'd visited a number of people who had a "please remove your shoes" policy.

Wow, I learned something new today. I assumed everyone took off their shoes in their houses. I mean, where do you leave your shoes when you shower? When you go to bed? When you're lazing about on the couch? Shoes complicate things :/

It's a habit of mine to take off my shoes whenever I come home.
It's not because of hygienic reasons, I simply find it more comfortable to walk with my shoes off when I am at home. If people visiting my home want to keep their shoes on, they may.

@PV: I know plenty of people that leave their shoes on in their homes.

Sometimes.

If I'm not planning on going back out, I'll take my shoes off. Otherwise, I leave them on.

You're expected to remove your shoes when entering the homes of most people in Hawai'i.

I thought movies from the states were the only places where people walk around their home without removing their shoes. I find it slightly disgusting, being obsessed with cleanliness and all.
